Has anybody installed a strap button on the base of a Fluke?
(If you put it in the center, it would defeat the ability of the Fluke to stand up.)

The Fluke has nonskid strips on its back --- but that's not the same as a strap -- as I tend to lose my left hand grip once I get beyond the cowboy chords in first position. Thanks for any help.

I use a 5" strip of stick on velcro and the uke still stands up and the strap stays on. After initial experimentation, I slanted the strip so that it is at the right angle for the shoulder strap.

I was just looking at this problem on my Fluke as well.. Neotech makes a nice Mandolin strap that has quick release ends and a tie on for the headstock.. Fits the ukulele well.. However,, you still need something at the base end and losing the "stand-up" ability of the Fluke also stoped me from putting the strap button there as well.. I have thought of putting the strap button on the back down by the base but Bill's idea of using Velcro may solve the problem ?? It is very handy stuff.. If you can adjust to the classic style straps, they sell one on the FMM site here..

I have used Velcro for several years, and my Flea strap is really a 1/2" wide boot shoestring with the matching piece of Velcro sewed to it.

Works great

Use that sticky spray that models use to keep their boobs from falling out of their dresses..... Just an idea.

It would mean tooling up for a new injection mold, but I always thought this would be a cool idea 'standard' on the uke or as an after market thing. Though instead of the hinge, just have a plastic bar going through the pocket. This way it would sit flat and you could clip on to it. http://www.rejuvenation.com/fixshow5574/templates/selection.phtml

I put a strap button on one of my Flukes and I've kinda regretted it ever since.

Genious J,
Did the button ever work loose? Was the screw able to seat tightly enough without stripping out the plastic? Or, did you regret the location of the button?
Thanks,
Joe

fluke and fleas now have a strip you can add to the plastic body back that keeps it from sliding on your clothes and is very helpful in playing

The button works fine, I just wish I hadn't made a *permanent* modification to the instrument. In retrospect I wish I'd done velcro or something like the strip musicguymic suggests.

I added a strap button to the bottom and up where the neck attaches to the body of one of my Flukes. I liked playing with the strap so much I added buttons to my other two Flukes as well.
