Here's another video of the Talsma electric solid bodied uke amplified by the new Roland AC-33 battery powered acoustic amp. Just the uke and the amp with a touch of reverb.

Filmed at the 26th Annual Texas Steel Guitar Association Jamboree - Dallas, TX - March 13, 2010.

Thanks,

You told me once that the Talsma uke plays itself.....but I'm thinkin' you have something to do with it too! Nice!

GR, do you find less feedback with the solid body uke vs the hollow body, or is that a non issue in general?
kudos on the uke and the amp... and the playing of course.

Feedback - It's pretty much a non issue.

Yes I can force feedback if I crank the amp to eleven and hold the uke near the speaker, but... that's just for my Hendrix tribute (which surprisingly nobody has hired me to perform).

That was great!

What kind of pickup on the ukulele. Sounds very natural. Baggs?

The Roland sounds great. I've been thinking about getting the AC-33 or the BA-330. Love my Bose Compact but really like the portability of the Rolands.

It's a MI-SI. The actual pickup element - the strip under the saddle is an L.R.Baggs. MI-SI makes the active battery-free pre-amp that is stealthly positioned inside the endpin jack.

Yes the MI-SI sounds very natural but a key element to the sound you hear is the AC-33. It is a dedicated acoustic stringed instrument amp. Most guitar amps are voiced for electric guitars and have a more narrow fat mid range tonality. A dedicated acoustic amp covers a wider tonal spectrum giving a more natural sound.
