| Hot Dang! Well folks, we're gettin' closer to July and we're fillin' up the classes. I've got just a couple of slots left for any other adventurous souls that wanna take this performance journey with us. I'm covering just about every aspect of performing from A to Z. Some of you may not know that I spent 20 years as an actor and director before coming to the ukulele. I've appeared in several motion pictures, performed over 62 roles in Legitimate Theater and produced and directed 19 plays. Some of you may be familiar with my show American Novelty. I've combined all of my knowledge as a performer with my ukulele skills to bring you a very unique and thorough course in the ins and outs of performance. Sure would like to see some of you folks at the Blue Stone Folk School this July. Cheers! |

Hey Pops I love ya, but were ya ever in one with the Duke? Can I get you seven steps to Kevin Bacon? By the way one of my favorite songs to play is "Pinch Me (I must be dreamin')" !
Death of a Uke salesman
Driving Miss Daisy's Uke
The Claw (hammer)
I'll see what this starts!

Geoff - Very good news. The guy's a knowledge sponge.
Ukester Brown - I once did a play with a guy who was in The Sands of Iwo Jima with the Duke. I am only one degree away from Kevin Bacon.

Thanks, guys! I'm not going to be able to get through the door this afternoon!
I've been needing a Blue Stone fix since about December, and am really looking forward to a fantastic week of improving my playing, making new friends, and getting to know old ones better.

Pops, you're awesome... Just a little plug.. I will be teaching a chord solo class along with Pops and Geoff this summer. I have been pouring over my jazz fake books for examples on what and how to teach it. This is going to be a great journey for us!! Can you say 135 flat 7?
Peace

Spanky's registrations are coming in, too. (I can say 135 flat 7)
I don't know about other folks, but moving from chopping chords to chord melody was a huge hurdle.
Spanky's the man to get you tothe next level.
We've a huge porch for nightly jams. A dozen great restaurants within a few blocks. Friendly, uke receptive folks on the street. Come and join us!

| Oh yeah, I signed up a while back. I'll be there. With bells on...whatever the heck that means. I'm REALLY excited for the instruction, but I get the impression that the "after hours" jams are a blast too...am I right? Is any of that going to be going on?

Good news to folks that were here last year....

How do I get over my stage fright?
What do I do if I make a mistake?
What do I say to the audience?
What if I break a string during performance?
Should I sit or stand?
How do I use a microphone?
What is a stage plot?
What is a "monitor mix"?
How long is a set?
These questions and many more will be answered in the Performance class at Meat N' Taters. Times gettin' short folks and July is just around the corner. We're not talking about a large class of 30+ people but a smaller, more upclose and one on one, environment. You can't get this kind of personal attention at any other school or festival that I know of. Hot Dang, this is gonna be a lotta fun.
