I just clicked on this linc in the Dealers linc section. They have Mahalo ukes with bananas and pineapple decorations. Really neat. I didnt know Swedes played uke, ironically, my grandfather was from Varmland Sweden. Maybe he has an old swedish uke up in the attic.

Teletodd, you might as well not know the moon's made of cheese. My first ever uke festival was in Oswestry, UK. A major crowd there was Swedish, had just flown in from Gothenburg. A good 30 peope. And it's not just them! Stockholm has a lively uke scene as we just have experienced with the Stockholm Festival at April 12. See: http://www.ukulelecosmos.com/phpBB2/viewforum.php?f=29 But a lot more activities are going on in Stockholm regularly.

There's also a big music store run by Thomas Allander who is an avid uke player and who initiated the Brueko company into building their slimline models. Brueko is immensely popular in Sweden but you also find there KoAloha's, Donmo's, Nationals and muuuch more.

Now get a chair, sit down, hold it tightly: even Finland has an active uke scene. On April 13 and 14 we had a small but very nice festival going on there. Ukes seen: vintage Martin, G-String, Boatpaddle, etc.

The world's a big place, ain't? Even the uke world.

Wow, I thought my interest in uke stemmed from recent vacations in honolulu, little did i know my swedish heritage may have contributed. Are there any swedish uke songs? I used to go to Vasa Group Swedish Christmas parties and we would sing Christmas songs in Swedish about the Lucia Bride. Alaha O, til vart en?

Oy, I don't speak Swedish, I'm Dutch. The languages are strongly related, but not so strongly that I can make out these words... But I found you some links:

(The Ukulele Ladies from Gothenburg seem to have ended their website, I found no active link for them.)

(Scroll all the way down though the songlist till you find Javla Jul).
