There's a guy local to me selling a Greg Bennett soprano UK50 ukulele. New in box, good condition, quite pretty looking, and for sale at about $100.
Is this worth a look, or no? Anyone familiar with Greg Bennett ukes?
Thanks guys -- ck |

| Basically a pimped out Oscar Schmidt. One caught my fancy long, long ago, but it didn't keep it long. I'd pass. These days there are better bargains.

| UK50s seem to sell for around $50-60, unless this is solid wood or something special I'd pass.

| Hey, ck, Diesel pretty much hit the nail on the head..lots of "bling" but a bit dead sounding-thick tops, even thicker bracing, heavily finished laminate construction..they play OK but don't sound particularly great. I'd be spending that $100 (and maybe just a little more) on an old Regal or Harmony uke, which will have some personality to it's tone and will always retain its resale value, which a Bennett uke almost certainly won't.

| Stear clear of the Greg Bennett for all the reasons already listed. Been there done that with on Oscar Schmidt. If you want a uke in the $100 range, Noel Tardy has a KoAlana Soprano on the FMM Marketplace for $119. Now that's a great uke for the price. I'm really surpised it's still there. No bling, but they sound great

| What the Kirbster says!!! Don't waste your money on a horrible source of frustration, get yourself a decent one, go for the KoAlana.

| I would go and buy a Flea. I've got a Greg Bennett and even with upgraded tuners and Aquilas, it still sounds like crap.
