As my ukulele collection has increased in quality in recent years, I never really considered Lanikai. I was in a local music store and fell in love with a Lamikai zebrawood slotted head concert. It is striking in appearance, and sounds as good as many of my higher dollar ukes. Great tone and projection, and nice fit and finish.
I had previously sent back a monkey pod version of this uke, because the intonation was off. My local purchase has excellent intonation. BTW, the zebrawood sounds better than the monkey pod. |

I found that Ohana's zebrawood uke was bright and really had a pleasant sound. I'd expect about the same from the Lanikai product.

You mentioned you'd returned a Monkey Pod version becaue of the intonation.. Just getting ready to pick up a concert and tenor Monkey Pod Lanikai. Was there much of a tonal difference between the two ?? I believe these are more of a satin finish..

| The Lanikai Monkey Pod and Zebrawood models are both a flat finish. To me, the zebrawood has better tone and projection.
