Okay, I'm fishing again--are any ukulele folks planning on being at Macworld Expo this week in San Francisco?
In past years I've met up with uke players at the Expo--and I have the website account to prove it! Although I'm usually loaded up with too much swag to also tote an ukulele, I still look forward to meeting up with others who choose the instrument as well as the computer "for the rest of us."
I'll be taking in the sights on Thursday and Friday--anyone else? |

| Nope, I'm not goin'. BUT I'm stayin' home downloading (scanning) every written musical score I have into my "Ukulele Music" document file in my iMac. Then when the "much maligned" iPad comes out I plan to load the file with approx. 600 songs onto it. That way no matter which uke groups I'm jamming with or whether I'm walking the beach at Waikiki I will have the written music with me. Thanks to the iPad I will be DONE (FINISHED!!!) lugging around the many 200 page, 20 pound songbooks. Bless you Steve Jobs!!!!! Pass the Apples! BBT

Hey, BBT--I'd pay a *premium* to purchase most of the ukulele songbooks I buy if they were in PDF format.
Just imagine the so-popular "blue" Hawaiian book (He Mele Aloha) as a PDF to have whenever and wherever you'd want it....
And, then, if you could connect the iPad (stupid name, really) to a projector much as we do a Keynote/PPT presentation and project it up on the wall at group meetings/jam sessions then everyone would "be on the same page" as we played.
(P.S. The Fujitsu ScanSnap is the bomb for fast, easy, multi-page scanning and conversion to PDF)

| Yes, mLKauai, my techno-uke buddies and I have been anticipating something like this for a couple years. Forerunners have come close, but this iPad seems like it will actually, and practically, do the job. What a joy to have ALLLLLLL one's music in one light-weight, slick, 10-hour batteried device! At least we THINK it will be our UTOPIA! BBT

| Tonya, I've already one-by-one scanned all of my home group, Island Bazaar's "Ukulele Jam" book and now have 350 songs ready to go. I figure before the iPad actually comes out I'll scan another 200 - 300 from other sources. Also I have in the same file MANY that I have done myself (on iMac's "Pages") which I have spread around to Island Bazaar and other groups. No more BBT schlepping miles down Waikiki Beach with towel, uke, and multiple telephone book-sized songbooks! Whew! And yes, as the iPad and other renditions develop it is only a matter of time before it's reasonable and convenient to somehow project sheets for "mass use" at jams. Aloha, BBT

| I'm not going to MacWorld, Tonya, but if you want to come up to the North Bay on Friday night, we can join the Marin Ukulele club for its Friday kanikapila.

Hi Tonya, have fun at Macworld. Wish I could be there, I have fond memories of many Macworlds at Moscone Center. Let us know if there's anything there you see of interest music-wise.
Ric, thanks for that documentary link, I loved it.

| There's a *slight* chance I'll be there late Friday but as I'm still trying to make sure this cold is entirely gone, it's more likely I'll be there on Saturday.
