Bad news, Michael - you really are one of the good guys, and the occasions on which I've met you have been great ones thanks to your genuine aloha spirit and all-round good eggness. I still wear the hat you gave me, and wish you all the very best in your well-earned period of rest and recuperation.

Positive thoughts winging over to ya, big fella. Take it easy, and get well soon.

What a bummer! Was so looking forward to seeing you at the NY Uke Fest! But more importantly, take care of yourself. You mean so much to all of us in the ukulele family. I treasure all the ukes I have purchased from you...they bring such fond memories of
chats with you at the NY Fests, the Dallas Fests, phone calls and emails. Enjoy your family and the well-deserved rest! We miss you already!

Mike, I never made a purchase from you, but was often tempted. From years of reading your posts and the comments of others in the ukulele community I am convinced that few can match your knowledge and enthusiam for our favored instrument and its music. And the way you have expressed your abundant aloha spirit in your business practices has set an unrivaled high standard for ethics and customer service. You will be greatly missed as a businessman, but I dearly hope we will all continue to engage in musical and emotional transactions with you on this site for many years to come. You are a blessing to this community and it is obvious by the well wishes expressed in this thread that uke lovers worldwide extend blessings of health and encouragement back to you.

To live, to love, to leave a legacy.
Be careful what you think-you may say it.
Be careful what you say-you may do it
Be careful what you do-you may do it again, and again, and again. That will be your legacy.

You leave a legacy which should give you and your family great satisfaction for what you have been to this community. More than being missed, you will be fondly remembered. You have set a high standard for products and services.

I firmly believe a eulogy (to speak a good word) should be spoken while the recipient is still able to hear it. As your challenges run their course, may it give you some comfort and satisfaction to know you have left the world in better shape than you found it. Thank You, Mike!

We're so sorry to hear of your medical woes. You have shared so much with our ukulele community, it will be hard to imagine it without you and your vibrant business participating.

You have built a considerable kharma credit. We are sincerely hoping things will sort themselves out positively in your behalf.

Mike,
I was so happy to have met you at your shop a few years ago. I even got to play the purple Pineapple Sunday you just sold.

The Pono Tenor you sold me is something I treasure (and play often!), and I want to thank you for everything you've done to bring ukes to players all over the world, me included. Please take care of yourself and I join everyone here who wishes you a speedy recovery.

p.s. If you can find a practitioner skilled at ART (Active Release Technique) therapy, you might want to look into that. I'm having a lot of relief from my Carpal Tunnel problems thanks to ART therapy.

Dear Mike: I was so sad to hear this news yesterday from Bassfiddlesteve. I remember how many ukes I bought from you during my UAS starting in March 2006. I still cherish the Pineapple Sunday and the little long necked soprano I got from you, the Kelii mahogany. There were more that have come and gone but those remain. Your advice, your humor and your kindness I'll remember always. I still have the tiny wooden ukulele magnet you sent me that my hula Christmas Santa plays and I think of you every time I set him up for the holidays.I also have the keychains and use them, too. You represent the embodiment of aloha spirit in the ukulele community and I hope you will be able to come by and share some good times with us in the future. Love, Nancy

I knew this would turn into the many layered outpouring of love that it has, because you have brought the love in all your endeavors within the ukulele community. Thank you for the instruments you sold me, thanks for the instruments you donated to my students, and thanks for all the free advice and good ukulele talk! I wish you strength and healing. You remain in my thoughts and prayers.

Dear MGM,
I was a repeat customer of yours, and you may remember that because of problems with my Wrist, I traded back the KOA electric for a PINEAPPLE FLEA with all upgrades. I can now play without pain because I started wearing a pressure bandage on my wrist, to bed every night. Most people curl their wrists up when lying in bed and it makes it so you CANNOT HEAL. The next time you go to bed, try to notice if you are curling your wrists up. If so, buy a pressure bandage. I will mail you some if you send me your address. We can get them here for a dollar in the dollar store! I was pretty scared that I would never be able to play uke again, but now I am going on tour this summer with my ukulele duo, Jazzalele. I also wear it when I drive, or buy groceries. You should not even hold a cup of coffee in that hand, and should wear a bandage day and night. My wrist healed in only 4 months. You will likely feel results the first week. I hope this helps.
Best regards,
Anna Acevedo Lyman

The Good Lord must know that your loved ones and the ukulele world still need you down here. I'll keep praying to Him to make you stay here on earth longer. Take care and God be with you.

Micheal-- thanks for all the good will, great service, Friday videos-- and especially for the generous thing you did, sending the soprano longneck to my student, Gracie. I hope you got the pictures. Mahalo!

Mike, So sorry to hear of your situation. We met at the Lone Star ukefest and all I bought was strings. You are one of the true ukulele heroes for so many. I am looking forward to your website. Thanks for all the joy you have brought to the ukulele community at large. You are in our prayers.
