I just bought an Akulele from
Elderly. Not the smaller
Sopranino, but the regular soprano
scale-length with the pineapple on
the back. What a great
instrument!! I love the Flukes,
as it seems everyone does, but for
about $100 more, I think the
Akulele would be a fantastic
starter instrument. Highly
recommended!!!
Does anyone have a Sopranino? Is
the 11+" scale hard to play? I'm
considering one, given how much I
like the "standard" model.
Thanks!! |

I was skeptical about the Akulele,
The one piece body construction
had me thinking it would have no
tone. But, after playing one of
Josephs "sweetheart" ukes a couple
months ago, it has gone on my want
list. The sound was nice and
volume was good. Not to mention
real nice looking. Have not played
the Sopranino, but have heard good
things about it.

Thanks for the input, Tiki King.
I was thrilled by how good it
sounds, and how well it plays.
And something different style
wise, too!

What's the difference between the
Akulele and the Sweetheart ukes?
I couldn't find any pictures of
the Sweethearts.

If I remember correctly the sound
holes of the sweet hearts are cut
like a heart or two hearts, and
the have special paint or labeling
inside and out. I think like a
peek-a-boo. It has been a while
since I have seen it.

The new site is www.akulele.com.
The sweetheart uke is definitely
on my short list of must haves. I
checked with Mr. Todaro a few
weeks ago and the lead time was
about 2 to 3 months for what I
wanted, but maybe he has other
models in stock or in route. GT

Wow! Thanks for the great
reviews. I am glad that alot of
people are having as much fun with
the Akulele as I am. Michael if
you want to get an idea of what is
is like to play the sopranino, put
a capo on the third fret of your
Akulele. This is equal to the
scale of the sopranino.

Joseph, thank you for the tip! It
didn't even occur to me!
The Sweethearts look wonderful
too; does Elderly ever carry them?
