Congrats, Andy. They're fine ukes. I only "met" the soprano up till now and it sounded very good. If you do a little search here, on Cosmos and on the other boards, you'll find a lot of praise for them.

Enjoy your new uke!

I would say it my easiest playing ukulele. I have worth lights on it and when you just want to kick back and play it's great. The sound is also good but not great. All of this for $200 or so is quite impressive.

Aaron, are you talking about a concert, or a soprano? If you got a concert for $200.00, I wann know where!

It was some guy from NYC he had it in a rain coat. Just joking it's a soprano, but really these are the best chinese ukes I have tried very consistant.

I loved mine. They really are a leap ahead of any other Chinese ukes, the best of the lot as far as I'm concerned.

My local dealer has a Hamano soprano at $269 side-by-side with a new Martin S-O at $299. I play both of them each time I'm in his store. I'd buy the Hamano if I had to make a choice. Its overall quality is at least the equal of the Martin, and workmanship/finish are, too.

In this price range, I'd also consider the Flea with rosewood fretboard. Overall, it might be the best value for the money, and much more reliable if you have to buy without an opportunity to play first.

Last several months I've been playing my old Maybell banjo-uke more than anything, but I really love my Hamano soprano. It's one of the best woodies I've owned. I ordered it from Elderly with Aquila concert-size strings and I think it's a great instrument. Not just for the money, but great overall. Just don't care for the headstock graphics, but I don't buy for looks anyhow.

One thing to consider and this could be good or bad depending on what you want but the Hamano has a wide yet very thin neck, not like the Flea at all. Two great choices though.

The Hamano is the closest to a "classic" mass production uke. They took a classic and copied it to the slightest detail. The company that makes them has also made quite a kerfuffle in the acoustic guitar community over the last few years making credible copies of Martin guitars. It seems unfair with the guitars b/c Martin still makes them. But since Martin doesn't make the classic ukes anymore, it doesn't seem like as much as an intellectual property violation (although its not legally a violation with the guitars either for some odd legal reason). In any case, I have one of the sopranos, and it really is well made and does have that classic feel.

I try to avoid mentioning it is a copy, some folks can get all riled up, but the ironic part is they did such a better job on their copy than Martin did on theirs.

Just bought a soprano....outstanding! And I've owned some very top line stuff...but this one blows me away.esp for the money...the tone is a solid 9/10, volume 8/10, fit finish 9/10...If gibson or Martin could make something like this in the states I would be happy to pay 2x the price..Saga has really done it right!!
