The Ukuladies CD Release Party!
Hello all!
The Ukuladies are celebrating their brand new (and first ever) CD "The Ukuladies Greatest Hits Volume II" this Saturday at Jalopy in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
The evening will start at 9pm with the extraordinary beatboxer Adam
Matta and bellydancer extraordinaire, Sarah Locke of Alchemy Dance to get things heated up!

We'll be playing our favorites, some new songs, and some old songs
that no one really likes but us.

Bacon, lotto tickets, cookies, cheap champagne and other treats will also per usual be plentiful.

Here are the details:

The Ukuladies!
Saturday, December 4th at 9pm
$10
Jalopy Theatre
315 Columbia Street Brooklyn, New York 11231

Here's what audiences and critics...yeah that's right....critics...are
saying (and we only had to pay them in bacon):

"There was so much going on onstage both musically and visually at all times, that you’d have to see the show at least twice just to catch half the action. The performance was zany, smart, musically spot-on
and action-packed – full of sass and spunk...Simply amazing. It’s
difficult to imagine a more complete and fun-filled evening of
entertainment." (Times Union)

And some other audience reactions:

"Bravo to The Ukuladies!! We had such fun at your show -- we would
have stayed for a THIRD set had you prepared one!! Great harmonies,
funny lines, creative arrangements -- it was just so much FUN! Thank
you!!"

You guys were freakin’ hilarious!"

"We’re still talking about you today. What a great, great time. We
can’t wait to see it again!"

"That was some of the most fun I’ve had at a concert in a while. You
dudettes are awesome!"

“That was the best 15 bucks I’ve ever spent on entertainment!”

"Give A Little" The 2010 Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries Fundraising Concert
GIVE A LITTLE": RAISING A RECORD $50K AT BENEFIT CONCERT FOR THE SHORELINE SOUP KITCHEN & PANTRIES

Last Decembers win-win situation for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries started with a song and a dream: a team of musicians dreamed of their benefit concert at the Kate raising money for at least 25,000 meals. In reality, with the help of matching funds, a total of 54,304 meals resulted from those proceeds.

This year, the stakes (and ambitions) are higher: the goal is 100,000 meals. But even more is possible: this year, if the concert can raise $25K, that amount will be matched, resulting in 200,000 meals. Of course, this requires an unprecedented and magnanimous spirit of cooperation. The Shoreline Acoustic Underground and The Small Town Concert Series are teaming up again to put on its third annual benefit concert for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen & Pantries (SSK&P).

EVERY CENT GOES TO THE SOUP KITCHEN!

On Saturday, December 18th, at 8:00 PM, The Katharine Hepburn Cultural Arts Center in Old Saybrook (the Kate) hosts this worthy SSK&P benefit. Tickets are $20 - $40 and refreshments are provided (by generous community donors). As before, proceeds will 100% benefit the worthy nonprofit. The concert is made possible by the continuing generosity of Wyeth Architects, LLC, and AcousticMusic.org (who are underwriting production costs).

The eclectic musical lineup will include many genres: bluegrass, folk rock, classic pop, Americana, soft rock, and jazz. Reprising last years appearances will be the Moving Target band, Lauren Agnelli (Grammy -Nominated with a former band), State Troubadour Lara Herscovitch, CT folkies Ebin-Rose, Jack Caldwell, singer/songwriters Eric & Sandra Lichter, The King and Queen of Shoreline Ukulele, Jim and Liz Beloff, and more. The musicians are donating all their performances to the cause.

Including the proceeds from the 2009 benefit show ($14,000), since 2005 the Shoreline Acoustic Underground has raised nearly $36,000 for the SSK in part by selling two CDs of music (Soups On! And Food For Thought: Benefits for the Shoreline Soup Kitchen) in addition to selling tickets for several holiday-time benefit concerts.

For the second SSK Benefit CD, the Clinton Rotary assumed all production costs, which was sweet, Brian Wolfe, is a musician, songwriter and spokesperson for the SAU, a small group of acoustic musicians who believe in giving back to the community in the way that they can: through their music.

PERFORMERS AND THE PEOPLE WORKING TOGETHER

Since 2007, Small Town Concert Series, based in Chester, has produced 30+ shows, many benefiting local causes. Matthew Male, concert producer, promoter, drumbox player and co-founder of STCS, believes in the power of music and entertainment: STCS is happy to be working together with more likeminded musicians for a very worthy common cause; nobody should go hungry in this land of plenty.

As SSK&P Executive Director Patty Dowling says, The Shoreline Acoustic Underground & The Small-town Concert Series will once again join together to raise funds for The Shoreline Soup Kitchens & Pantries holding a concert at The Kate in Old Saybrook on December 18th. This local group represents musicians, producers, and promoters all coming together to help those who are their neighbors.

We, at the soup kitchens, are so grateful for the hard work and commitment of this group, and all those who are supporting the event. Because of the generosity of Wyeth Architects, who is sponsoring the event, all monies raised will go to providing meals for those in need. This years goal is 100,000 meals or $25,000!

We all the musicians, the organizers, the SSK&P extend gratitude to all those who attend the event, making it a repeated success. As it is, once again, the holiday season of giving and light, we are all thankful that we have what we need. If we can all just Give a Little . . . lets help those in need!

So, eat, drink, and be giving while you enjoy fine original songs and memorable performances on Saturday, December 18th, 8 PM at the Kate. Please come and bring a friend.
