Ukulele Master Herb Ohta (Ohta san) is also a fine melody writer. Four years ago he asked Jim Beloff to set lyrics to his tunes and a collaboration was born. The Finer Things is a CD of 16 of their songs performed by some of the finest musicians around including Herb Ohta, Lyle Ritz (acoustic bass and uke), Hal Blaine (drums), Frank Marocco (accordion) and Fred Sokolow (bari uke). There are nine different vocalists including Jim & Liz Beloff, Rick Cunha, Bruce Hamada and, making his recording debut, screen actor and uke man, William H. Macy. Songs include "Blues On A Ukulele," "The French Café," "The Hawaiian Turnaround" and "Closer To The Light."
