Over a gourd, but it still sounds pretty good, once the strings break in I’ll post a recording of it.

This was a project full of anguish and pain but I pulled it off and learned a lot. I used mostly scrape and short pieces, which didn’t help a bit. Working around the asymmetrical parameters of the vegetable was almost insane, lining up the neck in all of its dimensions on a squash was a bit more difficult than I anticipated. It’s virtually done now just a few minor touches here and there.

It actually sounds pretty good, the top is about .065 thick and the volume is good.

Well on to the next one.

Very nice. What did you use as fasteners at the neck to body connection?

I used a block of mahogany that I carved to fit the inside of the gourd, I also carved the neck heal to match up with the outside, then I drilled a 1/2 hole and pinned the block, gourd and neck heal, glued and clamped it all together.

These is a decent picture of it here a few pictures down.

Wow, what a challenge. Like something old smelly bob would tackle. Good job.
