| The second Caledonia flotel concert last monday was another success. Although less Uke players than last year we still had three good players. Songs with the ukes included The Beatles, Hollies, Kinks, Monkeys, Cliff Bennett, Rolling Stones, Frank Sinatra and ofcourse my beloved Beach Boys. The song "Get back" with three ukes, two acoustic, one electric Guitar and various hand percussion went down very very well with our captive audience. I for one am looking forward to our next show. The uke still rules the North Sea well my little part of it. Dave |

Glad to hear of another success, Dave.
A lot of us haven't been on a deep sea drilling rig.
Here is a video just for flavor:

I haven't been on a deep sea rig. I did work summers as a roustabout during my student days though, in the Pennsylvania oil fields. So I had a taste of it. Never made roughneck. LOL!

| Good for you Dave. Hope you get even more uke players for the next event. Did you do any bits for You Tube?

It would have gone down well with me too. I like that song. I would like to have heard your version.

| Have put two of the songs on photo bucket site. The gut who put them on for me can not get onto you tube for some reason. The two tracks are Stop Stop Stop (3 ukes) and Daydream believer (2 guitars one tenor uke). These songs were our second rehersal for the entertainment of some of our catering staff who would not be there on the night as they will be working at the time of the show. photbucket name is davemac8 Dave

Thanks for the look into your world out there in the North Sea, Dave. It's hard to imagine what that life is like, so it helps to have the videos which bring some reality to it. I have to think the music you organize means a lot to both the players and the audience. And it's impressive to see that little Hawaiian instrument making music in the middle of a very different stretch of ocean than the one where it was born. Am I getting too poetic and sappy?
Anyway, keep up the good work. I'm sure it is appreciated.
And give us a report once in a while.
Jim

| I couldn't seem to get the video although I did get the photobucket site up. I typed in your photobucket name and don't know why I can't get it.

Pat,
Go into PhotoBucket and search on davemac8. You will get a screen which says it did not find that and then:
Are you looking for the Photobucket user davemac8? Click here to see this user's album
Clicking there should get you to the videos.
The vocal on "Daydream Believer" is excellent (despite poor room acoustics on the recording). Is that you singing, Dave?

| Hi Jim, First of all thanks for the kind words, The room is an actual 200 seat cinema hardly used anymore. There is no roof/ceiling in the room just a large black hole where no man goes to, or if he does he is never seen again. We had only a basic Peavy pa unit with two mikes going into one input and a mike and the uke going into the other not the best but the show itself went pretty well. Dave

| Thanks, Jim. I liked Daydream Believer, too and I realized that I did see Little Saint Nick before. I don't remember when or how I got it but I had seen it. What a blessing to have your uke and a couple of other musicians out there with you, Dave.
