Any pros and/or cons on the Beltona concert and/or tenor ukuleles would be appreciated. Thanks. |

I'm not sure if I ever played one but my UK, Australia, and New Zealand uke pals like them. Me, I prefer a vintage National or a new National Reso-phonic. That's how I roll when it comes to resonators in that I want what Dopyera made. Budget Asian resos, although some are fine and sound great and carbon and glass fiber resos like the Beltona, ain't for me.
I should note that I've played a few Donmos from Australia. I'm not sure if Don is still making ukes, but his resos are very good. Not Nationals, but good.
Mike, run "Beltona" as a search here at FMM and at the other uke fora and you'll find out all there is to know about the things.
Cheers . . .

To answer my own question concerning Beltona resonator ukuleles - I recently acquired a concert scale used (2002) Beltona ukulele and it looks and sounds great. It is as near mint as possible, black body, and a loud yet sharp and crisp sound. I would rate it equal to if not better than the more expensive National reso ukes. This Beltona uke can be played with more than a few genres of music. I particularly like to play it when singing bluegrass songs. I have owned many ukes over the years, and this is among the very best, and a good compliment to my custom made LoPrinzi baritone ukulele. I purchased this uke from Elderly Instruments, and received their usual great set up, answering questions about the uke, and transaction.
