Love this Henry Mancini melody from "The Thorn Birds." The author of "The Thorn Birds," Colleen McCullough, passed away recently.

John:
I LOVE this. And not only because you do a great job with it, musically, but also because you chose to start with the train station scene. It was filmed in 1982 in the town I was born in, Santa Paula, California, using the old Southern Pacific Railroad Depot that's still there (and owned by a local nonprofit). The producers trucked in literally thousands of cubic yards of dirt to take away pavement and all other signs of the 20th Century, and when they were done cleaned it all up and gave the Depot a nice new coat of paint. With so much of the series filmed around my home town (the big estate scene was in nearby Simi Valley, home to the Reagan Presidential Library), combined with all the the obvious romance, the series was a huge hit in our household.
Thanks so much!

Thanks, Rob and Rob! And thanks for sharing that memory about that railroad station scene. They did something similar to Hanapepe, Kauai.
