My friend Robert Wheeler, founder of Ukulele Unconscious was taken by an aggressive form of leukemia a couple of weeks ago. His collection of ukuleles spanned the whole gamut -- from custom made treasures to dollar ukes from the '20s. To him, they all counted. He had a very wry and sardonic sense of humor, and a very touching sense of song and music. Nothing show off about him, but a delight to be around anyway. Our mutual friend FredFallin, who is currently without Internet access has asked me to relay his sadness at Robert's passing and to vent from the rooftops his joy at having been friends with Robert. May be rest in peace. |

LSW and I are truly saddened to hear that. Founder was one of a kind and I always enjoyed his pungent emails. He once sent me a poem he had written about his son's passing; my turn to offer it to him. God bless ye, sir - we'll dinna see your kind soon agin.
