I created a Transpose tool for my personal use, but decided to make it available to other players that may find it useful. It is intended for exploring various keys of songs you play or want to learn. Select the CHORD ENTRY button for entering chords. The transpose step buttons are for transposing to another key. Entering chords when the step buttons are selected will enter the wrong chords since they are not mapped directly to the keyboard. This is a bare bones Web app, meant to quickly view various chord sets in different keys.

Hi John, I didn't check your site but I also wanted to give my students a tool to transpose from the 'difficult' keys to the simpler home keys. I based it on the cycle of 5ths except it is in rows and columns. The keys are listed across the top of the page and the chords are in columns under the key signature. To keep it simple, I just use the basic chords with a few related chords. Then it is a simple matter to move from one column to another column to change all the chords to the new key. Hi Ticker, That sounds interesting. I use a custom on-line keyboard, but instead of letters and numbers, I use chord names, with the keys in a row above the chord entry keys. When a chord is typed, the chord diagram is displayed. After typing in a string of chords, the user can view them in any key.
