Hello from Canada everyone
I have a new Martin T1K that has the original strings with high G. I'd like to change to ones with low G. So far I haven't found any music stores near me that carry anything but the high G sets.
From your experience could you recommend any brands that you think would sound good on this tenor and where they can be ordered online from?
Thanks for the help |

Check out the low G strings that Mya-Moe sells. They do sell a set that enables you to change between hi and low G tuning without altering you instruments. They have a video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zvMMNG3pDB8&t=51s that discusses it. Peace!

You should surf over to Elderly Instruments. They are very knowledgeable about ukes (among other stringed instruments) and have a great mail order dept.

This is my favorite Low-G. I buy it as a single to be used with my favorite set of strings.
This one sounds the best and lasts the longest IMO.
Good luck!

I put on a set of Aquila new nylgut string with a low G. I am very disappointed with the sound. Low G id fine but the rest sound very dull and lifeless on the Martin. I think they do well on certain brands but don't do a thing for the sound on this instrument. Will try some of your suggestions

I just buy the "single string" wound low-G "Red Series" instead of the set. This low-G also lasts a long time before a string change is needed.

I buy wound nylon D (4th) classical guitar strings, the cheapest available at Guitar Center or if I'm getting a lot of stuff, through Elderly who have the best prices if you buy enough to qualify for free shipping. On classical guitar the D string tends to wear out faster than the other strings. The D string works perfectly as a low G string on a tenor uke. On uke (and guitar) a wound string will wear out faster than non-wound string. When I buy through Elderly, I call because they have lots of loose strings about that aren't listed on the website. It should cost between $1.00-$1.5

I ended up keeping the Aquilla low G and put on Worth brown's and the sound really perked up. I'll try some of the other suggestions over time. Thanks everyone.
