Anybody try this one yet? There is a quite a buzz around this tenor carbon fiber ukulele. I feel like it sounds different in every video that I hear it sampled/reviewed on. Sometimes it sounds warm, sometimes it sounds thin and "tinny" up the neck.
For a few dollars more, is the blackbird a superior product? Does anyone have a blackbird that they may be looking to sell?
Does anyone else get frustrated that they can't try out ukuleles before they buy them? These are usually big purchases to make without strumming first. I don't know what I expect, but just sharing my frustration! :-)
I am usually limited to guitar center selection and the kalas at the local music store. |

Uncle George Kahumoku played a Sunbird CF guitar once and wow.
I know what you mean about playing first. It's like buying a puppy from another state (sorry, I'm a dog person too)
In the old days (10yrs ago) when Ebay and shipping were easier ( I live on Kauai) I would buy custom tenors just to try and then resold at least a half dozen without too much $ pain before settling and also some of the sellers would give you a few days to try em out first too (and refund if you send back)
But so true... neck width, thickness, scale, and tone... you can't tell by just a pretty (or gorgeous) face.
That said, a nice Kala today may suit the bill for some without paying 10 tines that for a custom if you don't value the finer details of a good custom (drool)
