I was shocked and saddened as I watched the news last night to learn that Tangi Tulley of Tangi Ukulele got mobbed and seriously hurt while trying to stop some guys from stealing his bike. Please pray for a speedy recovery as he is in the hospital and having to undergo surgury tonight. Tangi is the nicest always optimistic guy I know with a big smile of aloha always on his face...

I will keep Tangi in my thoughts and prayers. How very sad.

That is extremely sad! I have one of the sopraninos and have always been fond of it. My best wishes for his speedy recovery and I hope his attackers face justice quickly.

Michael, that is an awful story. The link didn't work, but I used the url and it worked. It says that Mr. Tully is without insurance. I could send a few dollars to help out. Any ideas about how I could help? Let me know. Makes me mad, sad, etc. All for a bike...

Please post an address or contact so that the ukelele community can contribute to any fund for Tangi. Don't have one of his ukes & never met him but would like to send a few $$. Kristi from Tucson

My thoughts and prayers to Tangi for a speedy recovery. All that violence over a bicycle.... unbelievable.

I talked with him this morning and he was in good spirits but is going into surgery this afternoon to wire his jaw so i will check with him if there is someplace we could donate or help when he recovers tomorrow. i will probably go see him at the hospital

Poor Tangi, he has had his share of tragedies and then some. I hope his surgery goes well and that he feels better soon.

wow; poor guy; i saw the news and cringed at the footage. Very positive guy with all the tragedy... Now it turns out to be Tangi.
Just shows things can happen to anyone. Take care.
Truth be told, and Tangi apparently is a resident, Honolulu can be a cold city with all the vices.

I wish him speedy recovery. Stinking vicious creeps! Let us know how to help.

That stinks, big time - from the louses who did it right down to the exemplary police work; letting the suspects go because the unconscious victim couldn't identify them. If they had killed him it would have been a slam-dunk for getting away. Shameful.

I dont know the gentleman but my thoughts are with Tangi. Unfortunately, living in Hawaii doesnt mean that you have Aloha in your heart. Honolulu is a major city and has all the problems of any other city. Ice is a big problem and as a result when Im on Oahu there are places I no longer go. Best of luck to Tangi and I hope a speedy recovery. I understand more than most as I was the victim of a gang attack when I was younger. It is amazing that on a Sunday, midday, along the beach walkway full of people that no one saw or heard anything. When I woke up, barley breathing and spitting up blood and teeth, I found suddenly there was no one around to help or be a witnesses. Tangi, I share your pain. I hope you heal quickly

Oahu's a rough place; that being said, it's getting rougher everywhere with the economy in the tank. I recently got mugged for $10, and a lot of people I know have been mugged/robbed recently. No they're not going to dangerous places, this is happening in places not formerly considered dangerous.

As a bicycle fanatic and a ukulele nut, i'm twice appalled by this story.
Payday is around the corner, so i'll throw some cash his way.

Speedy recovery, brother.
