Looking for players in the Dayton area to form a casual uke group. I'm a new player (been learning for about 6 months now) and would love to meet up with other folks who play. I know there are groups in Columbus and Cincinnati but it would be nice to have a group closer to home. I haven't found a group in the area yet but if there are enough people interested, I'd be willing to coordinate.

I'm in Franklin just south of Dayton. I'd be interested in getting together with folks in the area too. I have a small neighborhood type bar where we could meet if you don't already have a venue picked out. Let me know how you decide to organize things.

COUP meets in Columbus, Ohio. It's a great group of people.

I live in Middletown. I have never met anyone else in real life who plays the ukulele, so it would be nice to meet up!

Between Cincinatti, Dayton, Middletown and Hamilton you should be able to put something together http://www.fleamarketmusic.com/directory/state.asp?ID=36

Capote has kindly offered up a place to meet so it looks like we can get a small group to get started. If anyone has any suggestions or ideas, feel free to send me a message. I'll keep posting updates as I get new information. Please be patient though, I've never organized anything like this before so I'm kind of winging it. :)

jinxi,

I live in Centerville - been in Florida for three weeks - met up with 3 different groups in Tampa and Orlando area - some open mic - some instruction - great experience.

Love to be involved in a Dayton area group - keep me posted.

There are ukulele groups at Kettering Rec Center and somewhere in Beavercreek.

Check my post 2/9/12 -- trying to set up a 1-time get together in Granville ( east of Columbus) June 2 or 3. A bit of a drive from Dayton, but would be fun :-)

Granville would be a long haul from Dayton. D to Columbus is a little over an hour... it's another forty-five minutes to Granville. You all could have a meet and greet in Columbus and then make plans from that point if nothing else comes together.

I think for a one-time get together, Granville wouldn't be such a bad drive. It is just making those hour-or-more long drives on a regular basis gets old fast. Even if it is once a month.

Anyway, we've got a place to meet in Franklin and are just working on the details. Again, if anyone has any suggestions, please shoot me a message rowansprite@gmail.com. I'll keep everyone posted on the details as we figure them out.
