SOLDNew Listing Tenor Fluke with rosewood fretboard. Project ukulele!
I’m selling my first ukulele, my tenor Fluke with rosewood fretboard. I’ve played the TAR out of this sucker that the frets are worn and have replaced the tuners with Lucy's. Despite the new tuners, it’s not really staying in tune. I’ve also had bridge challenges that Dale Web has generously fixed for me. It comes with the original bag and will include the original tuners. Price includes shipping to lower 48 only. Paypal preferred. This is a great project ukulele!

Price: $40.00 - shipping incl. to lower 48 only. Paypal preferred.

New Listing Ukulele Occasional #1and #2 ..... plus others
Both Ukulele Occasional #1 and #2 - $125. Plus a couple hundred other books, about 75 of those old collectables or out of print books, the rest are still accessable but well below list pricing. ........... Call the phone number and if needed I can give an email that I can occasionally use. For the used and collectable books (many are as new), I know fair market pricing, so am willing to talk things over, but these aren't giveaways. For the few that have tried before - please no con jobs. These won't be going to ebay.

New Listing LoPrinzi Concert Uke - Cedar & Mahogany - Free shipping
LoPrinzi Custom Concert uke, hand built in the USA by Donna and Augustino LoPrinzi. All solid woods with a satin finish. Cedar top with mahogany back and sides. Mahogany neck, rosewood fretboard and bridge. Bone nut and saddle. Pro quality Gold open back Grover geared tuners. Mother of pearl fret markers at 5, 7, 10, 12, and 15th frets, and corresponding side dots. 12 frets to the body, 19 frets total. Ebony or black (I can't tell which it is) binding with black white purfling on top and back. Black and white purfling rosette. Fancy mother of pearl LoPrinzi logo inlay on the peghead.

Action is low with a low string tension. Currently strung with Worth brown's and low G Aquila - this instrument was custom made with a slightly deeper body than LoPrinzi's normal model for a low-G tuning. Sounds fine strung with low or high G. I like this instrument a lot when strung re-entrant.

A handsome instrument whose cedar top brings a warm, woody tone but still on the brighter side of the tonal palette, emphasizing the midrange. Great dynamics from loud to soft, with moderate sustain and nice resonance and overtones. Excellent playability.

Comes with a red very heavy duty semi-rigid foam padded gigbag with a big accessory pocket on the outside. If you don't want the gigbag, I'll sell the uke to you for $600.

Excellent condition with no nicks or scratches. Comes from a smoke free home.

If you happen to live in the San Francisco Bay Area, come on over and give her a try. I'll give a $40 discount if you buy it in person.

I would also consider trading this uke for a Larrivee uke.

Price: $625 with free shipping within the continental USA only

New Listing LO PRINZI SOLID CYPRESS CONCERT w/ Fremont case (GOLD)
LOPRINZI solid Cypress Concert, rosewood fretboard and bridge, bone nut and saddle. This is a smaller than usual concert; overall length 22 1/2". A great player as all the LoPrinzis are. Cypress has a sound in between spruce and cedar. It is loud and bright and bell-like. The action along with the slim neck make for a smooth and fast player. 1st time you pick it up you will now what I mean. I bought this from a fellow FMM member in November of last year. So about a year old. Am trying to raise some money for my new King. Any questions, please ask. Smoke-free home. BTW: In pix you will see some marks on the top of the body. There were there when I received it from Bruce. No way does it affect the sound or playability. Thanks for looking.

SOLDNew Listing VINTAGE Williams Soprano
Nice vintage Williams mahogany laminate soprano. no cracks, straight solid neck/fretboard, little signs of wear. includes new set of strings. the headstock says "williams" and it is stamped inside the soundhole "williams, los angeles" needs a little work, as two of the tuning pegs won't hold tension, but that should be an easy fix. the bridge has been reglued but appears stable. otherwise, a nice looking rare label uke. i'm selling because i don't want the hassle of replacing the tuning pegs. here's what chuck over at collectors uke yak said about it: "Mike...it is not a valuable ukulele but it is quite unusual to see one. They all had different colored nuts and saddles. Little is known about them, but they do pop up now and then. It is worth restoring. The ones I had were good players. They also made a pineapple shaped one. Please let me know how it comes out, I have always wondered what happened to mine. best..chuck - Sunday, June 21, 2009"

SOLDNew Listing Violin will trade for uke
This fiddle was made in 2003 by Harvey Arlington in Savannah, Georgia. It was taken to Randy's Wood's Music store and tweeked by Ed Hoover ... he recarved the top and made it into a great sounding fiddle. It comes with a double violin case (paid $175 for case). The case works fine, but on one side the zipper is broken ... it still latches and stays shut. A soprano uke can be carried in it also. It comes with a bow (paid $30). The fiddle is not as loud as most fiddles .... but for the price you can't beat the sound quality. It has a small stable crack near the tail piece. Will consider trade for ukulele. $250 or best offer.

New Listing HARMONY VINTAGE STANDARD UKULELE
Soprano or standard scale Birch wood ukulele most likely from the 1950's. This charming old uke has had some major cracks repaired and is in very stable condition, though cosmetically, the damage remains exposed. It has pretty tobacco-burst coloring with musical-note stencil design on the front. The back has a slightly rounded arch. The original ivory-colored plastic tuning pegs are intact while the old polystrene plastic fingerboard has a 1-1/2 inch hairline crack at the top. Hilo strings have recently been added. The Harmony decal on the headstock is partially missing. Despite the obvious physical flaws, the uke holds its tuning and plays with the delightful sound of the period. It's brimming with the classic character of a genuine antique! Sorry, no case, but it will be carefully shipped with lots of cushioning.

New Listing TAHITIAN UKULELE
Hand-made Tahitian ukulele carved by Tepairu Manea of Kauai. This is a fine 8-stringed instrument which has a unique and wonderful sound that is perfect for playing lively Tahitian-style music. It's made of one solid piece of Salulu wood, with a hollowed out back and a sound board of cedar which requires the bridge to be moved up towards the neck when not in use. It is strung with fishing line! Extra line will be sent along with the maker's description and suggestions. It's very cool-looking and a lot of fun to play- especially if you have a good fast strumming hand. Unfortunately, there is no case, but it will be carefully shipped with plenty of cushioning.

SOLD William King 6 string soprano
This 6 string soprano by luthier William King of Austin, TX is a beautiful example of 'big things coming in small packages'! First, it is simply a stunning example of ukulele craftsmanship. Second, the Macassar ebony and Mediterranean cypress combine to form a sound box by Mr. King's hand that is an absolute cannon. The neck and body binding are mahogany. The crown inlay on the macassar ebony headstock faceplate, top purfling and rosette are paua abalone. The fingerboard and tie-style bridge are ebony. 6 Peghed tuning pegs top off a very complete package. The bridge and nut are set up to accept doubled 1st, 2nd or 3rd strings ... have fun choosing your favorite way to play this uke. This uke has a wonderful tone in either configuration and the resonance and volume are excellent. It is also very easy and comfortable to play like all King instruments. The Ko`olau case shown in the pics is included with the uke. Check out William King's journal showing some in-process build photos of this uke. http://www.chantus.com/journal/index.php?/archives/598-6-string-soprano,-reprise.html Please call or email with your questions. Also, please excuse the dust on the headstock ... I forgot to dust it off before shooting the pics!

Le Domino Banjuke - JR Stewart Co.
J. R. Stewart Company was only in business for a few years. The company, which was located at 2541 W. 22nd. Street in Chicago is best known in banjo uke circles for its "Le Domino" model, a very distinctive instrument which featured dominos in a circle on the back of the resonator, the sides of the rim, and the fingerboard. Following Stewart's bankruptcy in 1930 Regal acquired the "Le Domino" name, which they continued to use on guitars, ukuleles, and mandolins in addition to the banjo ukes. Tonk Bros. Co., a large distributor in Chicago, offered the "Le Domino" banjo uke in their 1930 and 1932 catalogs, with the following description: "Le Domino Banjuke." Most attractive Banjuke ever designed. Built for tone and has all the snappiness of a banjo. Heavy 7-inch shell equipped with heavy nickel plated rim and twelve professional brackets. Artistic overlapping tone resonator. Fingerboard correctly adjusted and bound with white celluloid." In the 1930 catalog, the "Le Domino," which was the most expensive banjo uke listed, was priced $15.00 retail (dealer cost on all instruments was 50% of the published price). Other banjo ukes were priced from $3.00 up. By 1932 the price had been lowered to $12.00, while other models started at $2.20. Obviously the Depression was having an effect on prices. The instrument I offer for sale here was purchased new by my Mother-in Law in 1930, from J.R. Stewart Co. Their logo is present. As you can see by the photos it was well taken care of and is in excellent original condition. No cracks and never miss-treated.. Mom was the organ and string instrument player for her church for many years. The case is no longer present. Take a look at the photos. Please email with any questions. If you include your phone number I’ll call you if you prefer. Price is $425 plus exact shipping costs. Thanks for looking.

Gibson UKE-1 soprano, mahogany, 1953
You don't see one of these excellent vintage Gibson sopranos here often. Gibson UKE-1, serial number 3736-36, in excellent condition with original chipboard case. Warm, straight grained mahogany everywhere, with a rosewood fingerboard and bridge. Decoration is similar to a Style 2 Martin: it has white-black-white top & back binding and the same for the purfling around the soundhole. The years have treated this uke kindly – there is some light wear on the treble side of the sound hole, noticeable only under some light conditions. No cracks at all. Original pegs. Strung with Aquila Nylgut. Has been kept in a humidified case during the years I've owned it. Loud and friendly tone, with excellent intonation. I have been a Fleamarket member and Marketplace user since 1999. Five photos and a 1940s catalog page describing this instrument are in my Picasa album at http://tinyurl.com/nwa7a8 .

Mele Concert Pineapple Mahogany
Mele Concert Pineapple Mahogany -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A few years old but sat in the closet the whole time. Maybe 15-20 minutes of struming total. I would call it as close to new as possible without getting into trouble calling it new Has a nice rich tone and a beautiful color also has rope binding on the side top and side bottom. No nicks or scuffs. newer lightweight geared tuners. Anyways label is braddaha ukes, but I just called Mele and asked whats up with the label. They said it was just a label change. They toyed with the idea that the koa ukes would be "Mele" and the mahog ukes would be "braddah" not cheap low price, same construction just mahog. Mele said all ukes are "mele" now $240.00 shipped

SOLD Tenor Scale Banjo Ukulele - Black Bear Uke
Here is a new tenor scale banjo uke. This was an older soprano size Maybell Slingerland banjo uke at one time. I decided to make it into a concert size with playing scale of 17". The uke has a new neck, dowel stick, tuners, and bridge. I made the new neck from Honduran mahogany. It is reinforced with a graphite truss rod for added stability. The fingerboard and headplate are rosewood with MOP dot inlays. The fingerboard has white side dots at the 5th, 7th, 10th, 12th and 15th frets. The Black Bear logo is MOP inset into ebony with a maple ring. The dowel stick is made of maple. The frets are medium size with a total of 17 to the pot. The main core of the wooden rim is made of hard solid maple with the original walnut veneer on the outside, with a cap of Koa burl. The thickness of the rim is 1/2". The metal parts on the pot are heavy duty nickel-plated hardware, and are original to this banjo accept for the tailpiece which is new. The plating is worn in places but is polished and still very attractive. The new goat skin head is 8" in diameter. The rim has a 1/4" round steel tone ring. The new bridge is made of hard maple and ebony. The nut is bone. The tuners are high quality 5 Star Planet brand with a 4:1 gear ratio for fast and accurate tuning. The tuner knobs are cream colored plastic. The strings are the Aquila brand. The finish is nitrocellulose lacquer, hand rubbed to a smooth semi-gloss look. The overall length is 25". The sound has that nice old time quality, very rich and mellow with plenty of volume. No case, but I will package it with great care for shipping. Made in the USA by Black Bear Ukuleles in Yakima, WA. It is signed and numbered. Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original owner. Satisfaction guaranteed. Shipping is $25 in USA (lower 48). Postal money order, bank draft or personal check please. Thanks for looking.

SOLD New Pineapple Sopranino - Black Bear Uke
Here is a new pineapple shaped sopranino size ukulele. Sopraninos are smaller than a standard soprano in scale and body size. This size uke is rare and very hard to find. The playing scale (distance from nut to bridge saddle) on a soprano is about 13 1/2" in length. On this sopranino uke, the playing scale is 11 1/2" in length. The fingerboard width at the nut is the same for both ukes, which is 1 3/8". This uke features nicely quartered Honduran mahogany wood for the body and neck. The fingerboard and bridge are rosewood. The head plate is Koa. The top binding is plastic Tortoise shell with a purfling of w/b wood strip. The rosette is also w/b/w wood strips. The Black Bear logo is MOP shell inlaid into ebony with a maple ring. The fret markers are MOP dots with small white side dots included. Polished bone nut and compensated bridge saddle. Standard small uke frets are use with 13 to the body, 17 total. The friction tuners are chrome plated Grovers with Koa wood knobs. The finish is several coats of nitrocellulose lacquer, hand rubbed to a velvet smooth semi-gloss finish. The strings are Aquila soprano size, and work very well for this small size uke. Overall length is 19". The back is slightly arched in both directions. Easy low playing action with a nice feel to the neck for playing comfort. The sound is full and mellow with clear ringing notes. It has excellent sustain and volume for a uke of this size. I tuned this uke up to ADF#B, with a high "B" on the first string. This gives the uke more punch and good sound quality. I can also be tuned to standard GCEA tuning. No case but I will double box it for safe shipping. This is a one-of-a-kind uke made in the USA by Black Bear Ukuleles in Yakima, WA. It is labeled, signed, numbered and dated. Limited Lifetime Warranty to the original owner. Shipping is $20 in lower 48 states. Postal money order, bank draft or personal check accepted. Thanks for looking.

Redwood and Mahagony Soprano
Here for you is a handmade soprano ukulele by Aaron Keim of Beansprout banjos. It is made of all recycled and salvaged tonewoods I have gathered in Colorado over the last few years. My favorite thing about making ukuleles is that other builder's scraps are big enough to make beautiful instruments from amazing antique woods! -Top is California Redwood from an old train trestle. There are three small knots that look like little bird's eyes in the top -Back, sides, neck and bridge are true mahogany that I saved from cutt-offs from a local furniture maker -All the bracing and blocks are Douglas fir from porch boards from a Denver Victorian home -Fingerboard, nut, headstock overlay and saddle are rosewood from a local guitar maker's scrap bin -The body size and shape is based off of a Martin soprano It has nice gold and black friction tuners, Aquilla strings and small brass dots at 5th, 7th and 10th frets. There are 15 frets. The finish is a smooth hand rubbed varnish that is very light and thin for maximum projection. It is among the best ukuleles I have ever made. If you appreciate a one of a kind handmade ukulele from an up and coming builder, than this may be for you! The sound is smooth and mellow with great volume. It is very loud but without the harshness of some loud soprano ukuleles. I plan on changing the nut and saddle to bone before the auction is complete. Drop me a line if you have a preference, I will be out of town for a week but will still be emailing, etc...

REDUCED Cordoba CT-25 Concert
If looks could kill, this would be banned as a lethal weapon. Beautifully figured bookmatched Portuguese Koa with satin finish (not glossy). Full disclosure: This is not a high-volume, big group or concert-hall instrument-- it has a soft, mellow sound that's perfect for serenading your sweetheart by the lake under a full moon. Cordobas have had mixed reviews -- some swear by them and others at them. Quality control and setup have been spotty in the past and some pretty awful specimens have gotten out and tainted the brand's name. But this turned out to be a good one after I spent some time getting it properly set up. It has very nice low action, correct intonation, and tunes easily with the geared tuners. The instrument looks mint -- no scratches or wear marks except the following: two non-functional cracks on the top, one of which is barely visible in the photo: a north-south just under the left end of the bridge. The other is another north-south near the soundhole but doesn't show in the photo. These cracks account for the low price but don't affect the sound. Drop-dead good looks plus very decent sound at a low-end price.

SOLD Harmony
A great beginner or tour baritone. Ex-Aaron Keim 1950's Harmony. No so great looks, but plays great and doesn't mind being banged around. Modified from original wth Larribee geared tuners and replacement bridge & nut. Professionally-repaired cracked neck (barely visible in photos). Has vigorous strum marks, but no other significant flaws aside from the normal nicks and bruises a tour instrument will acquire. Very low action with no buzz. Amazing sustain for this type of uke. Comes with an oversize Larribee gig bag. This one's a tough blue-collar worker that does the job with no frills.

SOLD Custom Ron Yasuda Concert
Unique Ron Yasuda design. Large body (11" x 8" at lower bout) more like a tenor with a concert neck. All Koa, Aquila strings. Beautiful rich tone. Has a small non-functional superficial blemish between the bouts on left side (see photo), which accounts for its $200 discount. Otherwise no faults except a few nearly-invisible strum marks -- have to hold it in the right light to see them -- which should easily buff out if perfection is required. This is a tough one for me to sell -- it was to be one of my keepers as I recover from UAS. But Kevin Crossett makes a tenor now and under the rules for my recovery, I may not increase the total number in my permanent flock. Farewell, my lovely :-(

Vintage concert uke mojo! I can hardly believe that this is a 50 year old instrument. This Harmony Concert sounds fantastic and looks like it is brand new, fresh out of the box. Kamaka Baritone from NAMM show
NAMM show Kamaka Baritone: It was the NAMM show, show piece from Sam Kamaka. Gorgeous wood. Much prettier than all the retail ones I have seen. Has new case and warranty card. I have never really played it, so it is in mint shape (like brand new). Still smells great too. Too nice for me. I have several old Kamaka's that are beat up that I play. I had the matching tenor Uke for this. It sold today. I have more pics in a zip file I can e-mail to you.

Tony Graziano Tenor Uke
Beautiful and rare Tony Graziano tenor ukulele in wonderful restored condition. Curly Koa back & sides with spruce top. Ebony fretboard and curly Koa bridge. Top and back white celluloid binding with black-white-black purfling. Mother of pear position markers on fretboard, professional geared tuners and much more. This Gaziano tenor ukulele has been repaired and refinished with a new coat of nitrocelluloise high gloss finish. Professional repair by one of the island’s finest builders, TD of G-String Ukuleles. I would characterize the sound to be subtle but rich. The deep tones accentuate the mid-range and high tones well so you don't have an overpowering of one over the other. Tony Graziano's ukes are not only built well but they have a very clean balance tonally that allows for excellent playability, depth and balance in chords one to the next.

SOLD Custom KoAloha
A rare Custom KoAloha Tenor Ukulele (Black Label) in exceptional original condition. This one was completed in October of 2006 and remains in wonderful original condition. Redwood top with cocobolo sides and Hawaiian Koa back with cocobolo center wedge and maple wood pinstriping. Curly maple top and back binding with bound fretboard for smooth ease of play. The neck is made of Hawaiian Koa and the fretboard and bridge are made of cocobolo. Professional grover machine geared tuners. I am amazed at the tones this instrument produces. Absolutely wonderful and almost symphonic in a sense. Very rich chocolatey tones with crisp highs. Tremendous projection and sustain and I’ve got to say, one of the best ukes I’ve ever played! There are two small hairlines on the soundboard that extend from the left and right side of the fretboard to the soundhole. They are stable and have not moved one bit since I have owned this instrument. Aside from that there is quite a bit of fingerboard play but it is really only surface in nature. Custom KoAloha Tenor Ukulele * Hawaiian Koa & Cocobolo back * Redwood top * Cocobolo sides * Honduras mahogany neck * Professional geared tuners * Custom Shop "Black Label" * Curly Maple top & back binding * Curly Maple bound fretboard Custom KoAloha pieces are tremendously rare and amongst the most desired player ukes available today. Perfect intonation. Incredible projection. Unbelievable sustain. This Custom KoAloha Tenor is an incredible player uke and is tonally very well balanced. There is roughly a 2 year backlog on Custom KoAloha Black Label ukuleles. For more photos see http://ukulelefriend.com

New Keith Ogata Mo'olelo Tenor Ukulele
Beautiful custom Keith Ogata Tenor ukulele. Keith has been building custom ukuleles here in Hawaii for over twelve years and has mastered a design that is both aesthetically appealing and wonderful in tone. Constructed of a premium Hawaiian Koa face, back, and sides, this custom piece also emphasizes a solid Koa fretboard, bridge with mahogany neck. Black celluloid binding around the soundboard. Professional Grover Mini Rotomatics machine tuners. Maple wood position marker inlays and much more. A beautiful and rare piece that rings true the wonderful tones, rich and clear, of Hawaii. The ‘オ’ on the headstock is the Japanese character for the phonetic sound ‘O’ as in Ogata. This symbol is branded into the headstock of each ukulele and was something passed down to Keith over three generations. The character has always been the symbol of the family business. Keith’s grandfather, who had initially requested the brand to be made, owned a small business in Hawaii selling handcrafted Japanese ‘Geta’ or ‘wooden sandals’ on which he would burn this symbol into each sandal. This tradition has continued for three generations beginning with Japanese ‘Geta’ and continuing on in its tradition with beautiful custom ukuleles. For more photos go to http://ukulelefriend.com

SOLD Epiphone Mandobird
For sale is an Epiphone Mandobird in excellent condition. These are setup as a 4 string electric mandolin from the factory but can easily be restrung by swapping a couple of strings and turning it into a fun 4 string ukulele. I've got an extra set up strings to convert it back to a mandolin that I'll include. Action and intonation are adjustable on these as seen by the photo of the bridge. Here's more info and reviews: http://folk-instruments.musiciansfriend.com/product/Epiphone-Mandobird-Electric-Guitar-?sku=518027 Cool video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AwCkEHpjG8U

SOLD Martin Style 3k
Wow! Super rare Martin Style 3k koa soprano ukulele in good, playable condition with original wooden case! Based on stamped headstock stamp, bar frets, patent pegs and inside stamp, we know that it dates somewhere between 1923 and 1932. Beautiful rich, darker koa wood with subtle flaming and little or no surface crazing. Great action, straight neck, perfect intonation, and deluxe patent tuners. Only two issues are: one surface crack that was poorly repaired (looks like epoxy) on the soundboard; and, bridge is lifting slightly from soundboard (should be a relatively easy fix for a luthier). Original wooden case covered with faux alligator and lined with red felt is in pretty rough condition but might be usable with a little work (mount hinges, glue top to sides, etc). This is a rare ukulele with the classic Martin sound.

** REDUCED ** KoAloha KSM10 - pikake soprano
This is a KoAloha Pikake ukulele from May 2005. Has a straight-cut fretboard rather than the original KoAloha "crown." It also features: satin Finish, All Hawaiian Koa Body, CNC Shaped Sapele Neck, ebony Nut and Saddle, KoAloha 5-pointed Crown Headstock, Friction Tuners, "Musubi" Soundhole. Although it is 4 years old, it looks like it is brand new. No scratches, dings, blemishes of any kind. I have acquired several ukes in the past months and need to thin the proverbial herd. Strung with black nylon strings (picture shows it with old nylgut strings), sounds like fabulous koa Hawaiian uke. This model was out of production for a couple of years but new models retail for $470 so you save $145. Will throw in a soft, nylon gig bag.
