New Listing Pu’uwai Koa tenor, Custom built by Woodley White on the Big Island
For sale is a gorgeous Pu’uwai tenor built in 2015 by Big Island luthier Woodley White. This uke is the total package with sound and looks. Here’s the specs: 5A nicely colored, highly figured Koa top, back and sides, Ebony wood binding top, back, headplate with burgundy purfling on top, Ebony fretboard and bridge, Lightweight open gear Waverly Tuners with ebony buttons, Spanish Cedar neck with carbon fiber truss rod, Side Soundport, Ebony or Ziricote ? rosette with burgundy purfling, Koa headstock veneer with beautiful pearl and ebony inlay, Gloss finish, Hardshell case. Pu’uwai ukuleles are built by Woodley White, past -President of the Big Island Ukulele Guild. This, highly figured master grade Koa is also tonally great and worth the upgrade. The uke has volume to spare and rates highly for rich and complex tones, paired with sustain, clarity, and projection. It’s loud, but loud in a sophisticated way, like a fine Classical guitar. But the sound is definitely a uke. This is a gorgeous tenor, and is mint condition, essentially the way it left Woodley’s shop. While in mint condition there a couple small places where the gloss finish isn’t perfect (typical of a Pu'uwai). Woodley’s Pu'uwai ukes start at $2,500 without the higher grade Koa upgrade and inlay options. Here is a recent sound sample in C tuning with Oasis Warms + Fremont Soloist: https://app.box.com/s/dyq99b10ncw1qtlmksppasx2kwxo2a29 This uke also sounds terrific in B tuning: https://app.box.com/s/126ynym86hag8itj3toeo63mbuc3nq10 Album of many more photos : https://www.flickr.com/gp/150516092@N02/4M0aR7

New Listing Riggio Koa Tenor Ukulelel
Sound Sample @ Dropbox.com

Video Sample @ Dropbox.com

A beautiful Riggio Koa Tenor ukulele, hand-built by master craftsman Phil Riggio. As you probably know, Phil has a reputation for building beautiful sounding and great playing instruments with an ear towards a true vintage sound. This example is no exception. It's fully crafted out of koa, with a mahogany neck, and has the sweet, yet well-defined, tone that is common with these traditional woods.

The instrument has been very gently played and is excellent condition. It's currently strung with Aquila Lava strings that highlight the warmth and clarity of this ukulele. As a nice touch, Phil included his sand-inlay on his less commonly done slot headstock, with Grover Sta-tite 18:1 97-18 tuners. Hardshell case is included.

Feel free to contact me with any questions.

SOLDNew Listing Duane Heilman's Black Bear ULO Concert #6
After a long search, I finally found a Tenor Scale Flea which I have never seen come up and am very happy. It provides me that unique sound and has the durability to do and go where I want.

It makes this one available and someone is going to be a very happy Uker. It is a cute, fun, twangy, and lightweight instrument to play.

For the price, you will get lots of enjoyment out of it. It was the first concert ULO made by Duane Heilman of Black Bear Ukuleles and is his 6th ULO, (Ukulele Like Object), his affectionate term for these Ukes.

Instead of reinventing the wheel, I will just refer you to the original post. As you can see, I paid $220 shipped. It is in the same condition as received. It did not come with a case.

The price is $150 shipped CONUS, quite a savings. If you want a case, I have a gig bag that works just fine. It's a little big and old and beaten up, but it'll do the job. I'll throw it in with the Uke.

I pack well, ship fast, and have lots of references.

Thanks for reading.

Griffin Soprano Ukulele, Hard Case, Hercules Stand, & more
Selling a Griffin Soprano Ukulele #12 made in 2011 but bought in 2013. I had a Fishman Passive Pick-up professionally installed at guitarsolo in San Francisco. This is the pro type to his acorn ukuleles and it is made of maple and has a thin body. It currently has Aquila Red Low-G and Fremont Blacks strings on it. It is the ONLY ONE OF ITS KIND since he made the acorn Uke shortly after so I'm still on the fence with selling it. Such an amazing Uke and the only one of it's kind made by Brian Griffin in the world!!!! It has a thin-body and it feel like it's apart of you as you play. It's TRULY amazing!!!! The white hard case has backpack straps and also cost me over $200. This also comes with coastal strings and aurora strings as well. Also including a Hercules Ukulele stand, an Uke Leash, Planet Waves Tuner, Spectrum Mini Travel Amp and more. Some more specifics: Top: Sitka Spruce Sides; tiger stripe maple binding, dark fabric, back: carved, concave tiger stripe maple neck, walnut peghead plate, quilted maple fretboard , bridge and heel cap; Ebony dots top and side, mother of pearl tuners, black ,friction Strings; multi-color Aurora/Aquila This is a standard size and shaped soprano uke except its sides are only one inch high. It has a concave, carved fiddleback maple back which contributes to its rich sound and surprising volume . It had a role in the development of the "Pinecone" design. This one is built to survive in a back pack. One of a kind in this world!!!! $650 shipped in CONUS

Vintage Martin Style 2 Soprano Ukulele Late 1920s
I have tried to show the flaws as clearly as possible on this crack free, original, late 1920s Martin Style 2 Soprano. It is in very good shape for nearly 90 years old. Nice action, straight neck and plenty of tone and volume from Martin's golden age of ukuleles. Includes a good hard shell case and is priced to sell at $600.00 including paypal fees and insured USPS Priority Mail shipping consus.

SOLD Timms Style 2 Soprano Ukulele
I have decided to part with the instruments that live in their cases. Here is a nice, Timms style 1, (bound top), soprano that I cannot take to Europe any more, (Rosewood fingerboard and bridge). The finish is good, but not perfect and there is a crease on the back of the lower bout. There are no cracks, scuffs or dings, just a hand applied finish, so it is good, but never perfect. It has been there since new and is visible in the closeup photo. Side markers have been added at the 5th, 7th and 10th frets. The original tuners were replaced with Gotoh friction tuners and custom, 1920s martin sized ivoroid tuner buttons. It includes a Guardian hard shell case. Price includes paypal fees and insured USPS Priority Mail shipping consus. Price reflects the small flaws.

Sale or Trade (Preferable) : Mason Long Neck (17 inch scale) Spruce & Koa Concert Uke

I like to buy and sell Ukes as it is the only way I can determine what I like and dislike. Videos & sound samples only go so far with me. I have to touch and play it to make these determinations. It is fun, enlightening, and has made me many friends here.

A couple of months ago, a Uke came up that I was extremely skeptical I was gong to like, but it fit in with the perspective I have about trying and experimenting. I was lucky enough to pick up a 19 inch custom Kanile'a Uke that has literally and figuratively changed my thinking of what I like and how I play. Not only is the 19 inch tenor scale working out extremely well, it has given me the ability to more cleanly play barres and inverted chords up to the higher frets.

I have also determined that the 1.5 nut width has made quite a difference in how I play. It also reopened my eyes to nylon strings, and I am surprised at this as well. I also like the fact that the action is not terribly low on this Uke and the strings are a bit thicker. Again, all things foreign to my way of thinking up till now. This was a lot for one Uke to do, but for me, and I really believe this, this appears to be my "THIS IS IT" uke.

I also know that I do not want to only have one scale to play on and have concluded the 1.5 inch is important to me. With that in mind, I have decided to part with some of my Ukes that I quite frankly didn't think I would consider moving on.

First up is the Mason LN Concert, hand made by Kevin Mason in Illinois. This is a 17 inch tenor scale on a concert body scale. Instead of repeating everything here, I will refer you to my NUD (New Uke Day) I did last year when I purchased it. Everything you would want to know is there. (I just recently gave this to my luthier who did a complete go over. Everything is good. While it was there, I had him give it a thorough cleaning, and it looks fantastic.) Case is included.

The condition is VG++. It is not new and when I bought it, the Uke had been travelling with the seller for a few festivals before it sold. There are a few marks and dings, but nothing worth mentioning except for the fact that I am an open book on my sales and want you to know about it. If you are looking for pristine, this isn't it. If you are looking for something special that sounds and looks great, this is for you.

http://forum.ukuleleunderground.com/showthread.php?121606-NUD-for-my-new-Mason-Long-Neck-Concert-Ukulele&highlight=mason

Here are the pictures.

https://goo.gl/photos/sajRPBwx444Z3Uub7 (LOOK AT THAT INLAY!!!.)

I would prefer to trade for a 1.5 17 inch tenor, such as the Kanile'a custom, the 17 inch version of the one I have now, or a K2 or K3 Tenor. I am open to suggestions so bring it on and don't be shy, but please do not offer a soprano or concert scale. (Cash can go in either direction for the right Uke.) I would also sell it, but prefer a trade. I'll also consider 1 3/8 necks but would prefer 1.5.

I have had numerous conversations with the usual suspects on UU and it seems that growth as a player makes these sorts of changes occur. It is still a shock to the system.

I have plenty of references here and on UU. Have confidence doing business with me.

WHATCHA GOT?.

Thanks for reading.

Time to thin the herd some more. This is a lovely mango concert Pono made in Indonesia. Really nice balance and lots of fun to play. It has two strap buttons, Grover tuners, and is currently strung as low G but the buyer can change that, of course! It has been kept in a climate-controlled, non-smoking environment and has been well cared for. There are no chips or cracks. The Pono comes with a very well made hard case. SOLD Martin 3K Soprano, Near Mint, 2013 Build
I am offering my 3K here and on the Ukulele Underground site before going to ebay. Because there is no selling fee, it will be listed here for less than on ebay. This 3K has an exceptionally nice wood set. It has also been upgraded with Gotoh friction tuners with custom 1920s size ivoroid tuner buttons. The only slight flaws are that Martin cut the 1st string slot a little wide in the bridge, (1st string only), so I use a small glass bead on the string to stop the knot from jamming. The other flaw is a pin-point size mark behind the bride. I have too many Koa Sopranos right now, so one had to go. This was not my first choice to go, but it goes for more, so my decision was made. Selling price is $930.00 including shipping CONSUS.

SOLD Favilla Baritone uke, circa 1960, Style B-2 w/ hardcase
Up for sale is my very good condition Favilla Baritone, circa 1960, Style B-2, Serial Number: 115263. Vintage solid mahogany, no cracks, original finish. The finish is in very good shape, but there is finish wear, as well as some small dings and scratches. The finish also has some very slight crazing in spots. The fretboard looks great and has no noticeable wear, and the working tuners are original. This is about as nice as a Favilla Baritone as you might find these day. Price includes ukulele, modern hard case. This Favilla Baritone produces warm rich sound and has a wonderful and resonant tone with plenty of sustain. I love the sound of this uke, but I am playing a recent 21” scale Talsma mahogany bari more often. SOLD Digging Stick Soprano Uke
This uke was made by Jeff Burger in Bemidji, MN out of all native woods: walnut body and maple neck. His Digging Stick brand was dedicated to making high quality ukes following sustainable practices. The brand appears to be no longer in existence. For awhile, Jeff had a newer website called onlyuke, but it is no longer accessible. This is beautiful instrument with great tone, volume and playability. Here is a chance to get an environmentally sound american made uke at about the price you would pay for a halfway decent import.

Used Kala 5 String Tenor Ukulele (KA-ATP5-CTG) w/ Solid Cedar Top & LR Baggs Five.0 Pickup, Kamaka Case, Humidifier
Used Kala 5 string tenor ukulele KA-ATP5-CTG with LR Baggs Five.0 active pickup, kamaka hardshell case, and oasis humidfier. Solid cedar top, beautiful laminate acacia back/sides, padauke rosette and binding, slotted acacia faced headstock, 5 all plain strings strung Low G, High G, C, E, A. This is not an old tenor but it does has some minor wear here and there from strumming. As far as major goes there are two hairline cracks caused due to extreme humidity seen in the second listing(oasis extreme humidity in hole humidfier bought after the fact and has stablized the RH% now). I believe these only are finish cracks from the nature of the solid cedar wood shrinking and expanding causing the tight heavy gloss finish to split, and nothing too major. The bottom hairline looks fine judging by the bridge and it not being to the touch a split. These run $359 brand new plus $199 for the pickup/install and $80 for the case & humidifier. Get a player's instrument price and save on the cosmetic imperfection of this 5 string (best out for this range unless your budget's $1000+) ready to be plugged in with the active Baggs. $425 shipped ground con us lower 48, or best offer. NEW Custom KoAloha 'Black Label' Tenor Ukulele
Beautiful New Custom KoAloha 'Black Label' Tenor Ukulele handcrafted on the island of Oahu, Hawaii by luthier Alan 'Griz' Tagama and under the direction of master luthier, Paul Okami of KoAloha Ukulele. Griz handcrafts beautifully playing and aesthetically pleasing instruments for both the professional musician and the recreational player in limited quantities per year. The 'Black Label' model ukuleles are the premiere model instruments at KoAloha and remain amongst the most sought after ukuleles in the world due to its fine craftsmanship, playability, and tone. This beautiful Custom KoAloha 'Black Label' Tenor Ukulele boasts a gorgeous master grade set of Hawaiian curly Koa wood on the soundboard, back, and sides of the instrument. This grade of wood is ordered and cut by either Griz or Paul with the greatest attention to maximizing the finest tonal yield possible for each wood set. The wood sets are then cured and reserved along with a variety of other master grade premium woods only available for 'Black Label' full custom models. The body shape of the 'Black Label' is uniquely designed and fully customized in contrast to the production based tenor models. These body designs can be distinguished from the production model tenors by the slightly smaller waistline and overall compact body profile, making this instrument appealing to both men and women players even at the tenor size. The slightly more compact body design is strictly reserved for Black Label customs and those handcrafted for KoAloha sponsored musicians. The neck of the instrument is hand-carved rather than machine tooled and made of Honduran mahogany wood for added stability and increased sustain. The advantage of a hand-carved neck allows the luthier to add a personal touch in shaping the neck contours accordingly and adds comfort to the overall profile and feel for the player as s/he moves up and down the fingerboard. In addition, this gorgeous 'Black Label' tenor ukulele also incorporates an elegant Macassar Ebony wood fingerboard, bridge, and matching headstock veneer with a black-on-black custom KoAloha 'Black Label' shell logo and matching position markers entirely cut and inlaid by hand. The Hawaiian curly Koa has also been dyed a conservative hue of black prior to the finishing process and in keeping with the all black "earthy" theme of the instrument. Dyeing is a feature that is also only available to full customs at KoAloha custom shop. Professional HipShot open geared tuners have been employed on the build to reduce the overall footprint and weight of the tuner at the headstock without compromising the function of a professional 18:1 gear tuning ratio for smooth and precise tuning. Another unique feature of this instrument is the high gloss finish on the body with a smooth satin style finish on the neck, bringing together the functional aspects of a smooth neck making for seamless transitions from one chord to the next with the elegance and aesthetic beauty of a high gloss poreless finish on the body of the instrument. In terms of tonal qualities, this Custom KoAloha 'Black Label' Tenor Ukulele can be characterized with a rich and bold tone with wonderful sustain, exceptional clarity, and great tonal range. These instruments have perfectly set intonation and offer precise and definitive note separation in both the lower register and higher positions on the neck. The customized neck and overall weight distribution of the instrument along with a slightly more compact body design allows for extended ease of play and free-flowing mobility to the player. Custom KoAloha 'Black Label' Ukuleles are handcrafted with all the expertise and commitment to the highest level of craftsmanship with all the warmth of true ‘Aloha’ in every build. Indeed, these are the ukuleles that many people dream of playing but few have the opportunity to even see in person. A highly recommended piece that rarely appears on the grand landscape of ukulele luthiery. Price: $5,050.00

Blackbird 'Carbon Fiber' Tenor Ukulele
The Blackbird Tenor Ukulele is a beautiful example of new advancements being made in the instrument industry in terms of construction, tone, playability, comfort, and durability - where technology and creative ideas forge new experiences for the player. This Blackbird Tenor Ukulele is made entirely of carbon fiber and is not susceptible to the issues of humidity and dry or cold weather, which are of great concern for instruments handcrafted entirely of wood. It has a beveled back for added comfort when cradling the instrument against your body and comes set up with shoulder strap buttons and a pick up for quick plug and play. Professional Gotoh geared tuners for smooth and precise tuning. The instrument has a surprisingly nice response with nice projection and clarity. It has a durable feel with a modern aesthetic appeal. Smooth neck to play up and down the fingerboard and is quite the fun experience to play. Price: $1,250

Custom Baritone with Patented Bracing System
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pdnbiLJUEb4 Four years ago I bought this custom baritone from a local luthier, William Del Pilar, who is highly regarded as a classical guitar maker. As some of you know, I'm very picky about the ukes I buy, and it was his meticulousness and ideas about sound that intrigued me. He created a bracing for which he owns a patent and it's been featured and complimented in news articles. But most importantly, it sounds great. http://www.nytimes.com/1993/02/03/ny...their-art.html http://www.nydailynews.com/latino/bu...ticle-1.376856 The uke is made out of curly rock maple back and sides and west german spruce top. I certainly don't profess to know anything about whether the special bracing does anything more than a regular fan bracing, but this clip is a decent representation of what it sounds like--to me, it very much has a classical guitar-like sound. You can't buy anything from him anymore because he's moved away, and I think he retired. I'm selling this because I am getting too busy to play the uke and trying to clear space.

Players Ko'olau CE-1 Semi-Chambered Koa Top Electric Tenor Ukulele w/ Case
Used players Ko'olau CE-1 Tenor with solid Hawaiian Koa top and solid Mahogany back and sides, rosewood fretboard faceplate and bridge. Custom LR Baggs pickups developed by Ko'olau and LR Baggs just for the CE for best amplified sound on the market. As far as being well played, it's not an old build but it was gigged out on extensively with finger picks and shows wear around where the sound hole would typically fall extending there to the edge, with only a few of the scratches piercing through the satin finish near the edge as seen in image #5, but that's it, still pretty new in other regards. I checked with two sources one being the distributor, it's strictly aesthetic. Applying a film pick guard was recommended if you intend to continue use via picks or nails to prevent further wear due to the nature of the satin. For anyone who might be looking for a CE on the secondary market at a solid discount, probably will be the hardest to part with yet but if the price is right I need the cash. Includes custom hardshell Ko'olau case and oasis humidifier. Initial asking price is $1300 shipped ground con-US lower 48. Originally paid around $1900, also will consider best offers or I guess I'm interested in a Kamaka HF-2L (pickup preferred else trade + cash) or niche cool super concert long necks(anyone have a KoAloha Tenor Sceptre?). Please email me with any questions, additional and alternate pictures could be arrange for serious inquiry. Aloha
