No dealers near me had one in stock, so I had to purchase from Instrument Alley. It was the only way I could find out how good or bad the upper level O.S. ukes actually were. I'm glad I did, because the tenor is a beautiful thing. It came in a very nice hard case, too.
I started off with a magnifying glass to check fit and finish. Everything was perfect. All of the Oscar Schmidt ukes I've owned were well constructed. And even the low end ukes were ready to play right out of the box. No adjustments needed.
I had a chance to pay it today with a friend, and the tone is as beautiful as the uke itself. There is a wonderful ring to it especially up the neck around the 7th and 8th frets.
Every O.S. I've owned has been a bit lacking in volume, and the 240SWK follows in that tradition. But, I'm hoping the solid construction will open up and improve the volume some as it ages. All in all I am pleased with it. Frank B. |

| Joy of your new uke to you. My experience tells me that it will not really open up so much as you will to it. But thats a good thing.

Enjoy your new uke. I am impressed with Oscar Schmidt's "professional series" ukes, including the model you bought. I love their cases.
In the coming issue of Ukulele Player we are reviewing the OU-5LCE and Oscar Schmidt cases. They are well-made and highly protective. You model came with the UC4 case (tenor). It has thicker padding inside than the UC3 case (concert).

Pippin, do you know who makes the cases and if they are available separately from the ukuleles?

Frank... the cases are made in Indonesia. Oscar Schmidt does sell them separately. I know that Musician's Friend has the UC3 on their website.
8th Street Music (South Jersey) has them in stock.

Added: I am reviewing another Oscar Schmidt uke and their cases in the next issue of Ukulele Player.
