Aloha everybody! Boy - driving back home from a kumu hula fundraiser at the Back Home in Lahaina Hawaiian restaurant tonight, i got a call from Eric Keawe (Aunty Genoa's son) who was touching base about song selections for next month's Aloha Falsetto Festival. He then put the phone to where I could listen to Pomaika'i (Aunty Genoa's granddaughter) practicing with Jeff Peterson, Bryan Tolentino, and Alika Boy ..... WOW! That just made my day - as if I couldn't be more excited for next month's show! I asked him to make sure that there are spots for nice ukulele solos by Bryan and slack key guitar solos by Jeff who is an amazing musician.
If you're not familiar with this upcoming show, it's a one-of-a-kind showcase that I organize here in Redondo Beach at the RB Performing Arts Center. This year the featured artists are Richard Ho'opi'i, Weldon Kekauoha, Pomaika'i Keawe Lyman, Leokane Pryor and kumu hula Kekaimoku Yoshikawa and an awesome house band consisting of the aforementioned individuals. Don't miss this awesome show!
