Excellent music here: I bet a lot of you will love this.
Latest news from Da Silva newsletter. "Looney Tunes & Merrie Melodies were originally created to popularize songs from Warner Bros. musicals and songs that Warner Bros. owned the publishing rights to. So music and song has always been integral to them. Like many of my generation, my first exposure to classical music and jazz standards was via Warner Bros. cartoons. However, we usually only hear 5 seconds or less of the lyrics. Now you can hear these songs in context, as they were written."

I caught Megan Lynch at DaSilva's a few years ago. She's a terrific singer. And Tony Marcus, who was her only accompaniment that night, is not only a great instrumentalist but a member of the Cheap Suit Serenaders. (As is Robert Armstrong.)

I have a CD by the Cats & Jammers with Tony Marcus.

I'm just looney about this thread. Megan is a wonderful singer and signs all of my songs in perfect pitch, great wave volumes, soothing sounds, and impact; just the way I want all my Tunes to be.

My ears were burning so here I yam. Thanks for the kind words! I thought I'd let you know that I'll be playing DaSilva Ukulele Co. again with Tony Marcus, Steven Strauss (ukebox.com), Billy Wilson and possibly Jeff Sanford of the Cartoon Jazz Orchestra on Friday Oct. 23. Ukulele will be in the house, fer sure.

What a concept, lol. How do I get to the music? I am pretty new at this.

If you have Flash Player installed on your browser, you just hit the right-facing arrow "play" button on either the album as a whole or an individual song to hear it. You can hear the entire song/album for free. If you want to buy the digital download of the album, you hit the "Download Album" link and you can buy it using PayPal (PayPal acts as the "store").

In another week or two I should have the album available on iTunes, CDBaby, Amazon and sites people are more familiar with. However, Bandcamp at the present time is kinder to artists and does not take a cut the way those other sites do.

For those who are out-of-town, we'll be streaming the gig live on my Ustream channel http://bit.ly/3t1dpE starting at 8pm Pacific time on Friday Oct 23 (use timezoneconverter.com if you want to find out what time that is for you)

My hands are gimpy but I'll probably flail away at the Dixie banjolele on one number.

Until noon (US Pacific Time) on Wed Dec 23rd, I'm offering my album "Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me" on a "pay what you will, even nothing" basis. Download, spread the word, enjoy! http://bit.ly/6dz1JC

It's not an all-uke album, but uke is definitely one of the axes in the shed.

The album got blogged by Ukulele Brasil, which also did an interview with me. The interview was posted in 3 blog posts today (both my original English answers and a Portuguese translation). There are shoutouts to Mike DaSilva, Steven Strauss & Bob Armstrong. Ukulele Brasil is an interesting read for non-Brazilians as it covers some Brazilian artists that we might not otherwise hear about here. Marcelo Silva is a ukulele luthier in his own right, as well.

I will get this as soon as it hit's itunes. (I bought a Mac so I don't have to learn to much computer stuff :) ) This is fabulous and I love the fact you have the verses... That and you all did a great job on it! OK- I didn't wait- I just bought and downloaded it and burning my disc.
Posted By: spidra Date: 3/3/2010 10:37:58 PM
Gosh, thanks, Ukester! I wish I could have done every verse for every song. I don't read notes and I couldn't learn all the verses in time for the scheduled sessions so I had to leave out the verses to "It's Magic" "Someone's Rockin' My Dreamboat" and "It Can't Be Wrong" (couldn't locate recorded versions of the verses to learn from and my attempts at plunking it out myself going "every good boy does fine" were excruciating).

I'm happy wherever people buy it but if they buy it at http://meganlynch.bandcamp.com they get an extra (non-WB) track - Big City Blues - plus more $ goes to paying off the album's debt. ;-) You can also choose exactly what file format you want the download in.

Occasionally I am asked to pick which song from the album would be the single. Nearly every person I've asked has a different favorite off the album. I know a lot of folks on the board have listened to it, so which song would you pick as the single from "Songs the Brothers Warner Taught Me"? http://poll.pollcode.com/SsQ
