The Famous brand is sold in USA as Kiwaya, I bought a Kiwaya KLS-1 a couple of years ago from MGM and really like it. It is laminated long neck version of Martin soprano.
I don't know if a laminate KOA is produced but it certainly sounds as good as the 1920s Martin soprano I sold several years ago. And the long neck is great! |

| Hi, can you tell me what the scale length is on your KLS-1? Tried to nab a KLS-2 on the market place (yes, Koa) a while back but I was too late. Is the top laminated too or just the back and sides? Thanks.

My understanding (from MGM) is that the older version of these had solid tops, & they later switched to laminate tops. I just picked up a solid-top version, & love it.
I think Kiwaya ukes are the best production ukes on the market today.

Hi Christie, I have a Kiwaya KSL-1 avaiable for sale at $295 with a camo padded gigbag. This is one of the early models with a solid mahogany top and laminated back and sides - it's serial number is #91.
I'd sell it for $295 shipped free to the USA lower 48. If you're interested, let me know, and I'll send you exact measurements, etc. I'll be posting it soon here on the fleamarketmusic marketplace section. In the meantime, you can see my craiglistad here:
