I saw the new movie, The Mighty Uke, Thursday in Santa Cruz. If you have a chance to see this, see it. It is beyond excellent, you can take a non-uke person and you will both enjoy it immensely - it will bring tears to your eyes.
Serious kudos to the film makers, Tony and Margaret, and all the people who help spread the joy of ukulele. |

I second that, Toebone. I caught the San Rafael showing on Tuesday night, followed by a Q&A with one of the filmmakers and a performance by James Hill. Speaking of the film, James Hill said, "Don't you feel like you're part of something bigger?" And I had to agree. "Mighty Uke" gives you the same feeling you get when you go to an ukulele festival, a sense of belonging to a larger community.
The folks sitting next to me weren't ukulele players; they were regulars at the theater (a nonprofit art house) who just happened in. But when the film was over, one of them said, "I have to go buy an ukulele."

I can't wait to see this, first because it's about my favorite subject, but also because it includes some of my favorite uke people.
Good to get a positive review, Toebone!

| Yeah, Bob, we packed the house. Everyone was pleased to see the turnout. I need to get the final headcount, but it was far better than expectations.

| We had the World Premeire right here in Toronto at the Royal, a beautifully restored movie house from the thirties! At least 25% of the audience had ukuleles - a magical night! James Hill and Melonie Doane performed.

| Saw the film with HB friends last night at Carlsbad. Wonderful experience. The film was great. The challenge the film makers had was to figure out "what to leave in and what to leave out!!!" Even though it was an engrossing 80 minutes there were things I kept looking for them to show........unfortunately some didn't make it into the final cut. But they are adding (I think he said) 10 additional segments to the DVD. I'm anxious to see those, too. All in all it was such a thrill for us ukesters. BBT

| Tony said Summertime. Theaters are reluctant to show the film if the DVD is out so they need to finish their first round of showings and then do another round where they can also sell the DVD.

| Just viewed the traylor to the movie, Loved it hope it comes out over here in the UK. As one of the people in the movie said you can't hide with a uke its just you and the uke. Hoe right he is. Also there is a lot of music in the uke. Love it. Dave

They're planning an East Coast tour and I contacted them about a Sunshine State screening.
