Hello,
Just popped in to look around and Pete's post got me a little nostalgic. Thought I would contribute a recent post on Youtube
I Want to Go Back To My Little Grass Shack

Hope you enjoy!

NO, I don't want to "go back to . . . [your] little grass shack in Kealakekua, Hawaii." Rather, as the tune was originally written, "I WANNA GO BACK TO A BLACK LITTLE SHACK, BACK IN HACKENSACK, NEW JERSEY.”

You are exactly right.
I remember Joel Eckhaus (performer/luthier) performing a it at the Ukulele Hall of Fame Expo in 2001. And by the event was in Jersey
Not Hackensack though it was West Orange.
Thanks for the links though
all of them.

Hey Ukulele Crooner! I still have your CD from when you played at UkeFest West in 2004. Nice to see another of the old-timers here.

Hi again, Ukulele Crooner. Sorry I dropped out of the conversation... I check the board sporadically. Yes, I still have a CD player, and I still do listen to your CD. You have a great voice and a nice way with a soprano!

Oh, geesh, and I had the CD, too, Ukulele Crooner. Unfortunately, it was destroyed in the fire at our place in 2018. I lost so many *great* CDs and books in the Camp Fire. Most of 'em not available any longer. Grrr...
Wasn't UkeFest West one of those "it'll never be like that again" opportunities? And then it was followed up the next day with the Northern California Ukulele Festival in Hayward. What a time that was--and I have oodles of photos (digital, thank goodness) to remember that by.

Tonya,
So sorry to hear about the fire.
Please email me at
richard.russo@openskycs.org
and I'll send you replacement one.
Didn't you know there was a lifetime guarantee?

Rick, that's very cool of you!
Tonya, boy, was it ever! That's where I finally got to meet Tom B in person, met you for the first time, played a million ukes, took a hundred workshops and heard a thousand bands perform. What a weekend (even without the benefit of Hayward). Still the highlight of all my ukulele days!
