Hi,
I have worked my way through the book: "how to pick and strum the ukulele
book 1" It was adequate, but I am unsure if I want to get book #2. Does anyone know of a good book I should use next?
Thanks,
Dave |

I started with a book by maestro Roy Smeck ("Roy Smeck's Ukulele Method", a 1969 gem found at a flea market). His method not only gave you the basics, but also taught how to throw in a bit of showmanship once you got comfortable. I think the folks at Mel Bay still have some of his works in print (hit for further info).
Good luck!

I highly recommend Beloff's books "Ukulele Gems" and "Ukulele Favorites," esp. if you like American popular song from the first half of this century.

I just go t Jim Beloff's video from Elderly Instruments. It very good as well. It covers some of the songs from 'Tips n Tunes' as well as a song from one of his CDs. It also has some guests players and a very interesting look at Jim's uke collection.
