While primarily a guitarist, Botkin could play the uke! The uke music starts about 1:50.
Botkin also composed one of my favorite examples of bubbly-toned electric guitar
- The Ellie Mae Decending A Staircase theme from the Beverly Hillibillies TV Show - what a tune! Starts at 3:04
Watch the whole clip, it's very cool.

Here's Botkin playing uke with Ozzie Nelson at a staged Hollywood Hawaiian Luau for the Ozzie and Harriet TV show. Starts at 7:00. Perry is doing all the work.

Gerald, didn't Perry take over as Bing Crosby's guitarist after the untimely death of Eddie Lang?

Gerald, thanks for these great links. Couldn't resist mentioning that we included Perry's own compositions "Ukey Ukulele" and "Duke Of The Uke" on our Paradise Lost & Found CD. In fact, for those who are curious, I just posted "Ukey Ukulele" in the Jukebox section under JB songs and recordings. On this version the uke and drums are played by Abe Lagrimas Jr. and bass by Randy Wong. It's very much inspired by the original recording by Perry.

Can anyone tell me how Perry is strumming those downbeat triplets on On The Beach At Waikiki in the Ozzy & Harriet clip?

that must have been "the" Harry Owens, the host of the "luau".
though corny, very well done, and imo sensitive enough to the culture.
