Saw this posted on UU and thought folks here would find it interesting as well. This is a new, relatively low-priced soprano made out of pine wood that's been developed by KoAloha.

Wow! Checked out the website and it appears that Koaloha founder Alvin Okami has taken on "Uke S.A." as a distinct project. And significantly, instead of moving into even higher-priced custom ukes, Okami has designed, and is manufacturing in Hawaii (i.e., "Made in USA"), a very different ukulele with an amazingly attractive price point. Will be curious to see what sort of impact this makes on the market.

A great idea. I'm curious to see, play and hear one.

The guy playing in the video could make a 2x4 and a rubber band sound good.
I question the long term durability of pine.
It does sound pretty though.
