Hi Everyone, need a block of instruction regarding how to purchase Worth strings. I understand that you can cut the strings in half to make a pair. What I 'm not clear about is, for the average price of $15.00, am I buying a set that with result in two complete sets, 8 strings, or is Worth selling one string which is considered set when cut in half. thanks |

You get 4 strings, that you cut each in half to have 2 complete sets.

Rick, it's what deejay said: You get two complete sets, eight strings. I believe the strings are 46 inches long, so each one turns into two 23-inch-long strings. When you consider the typical scale lengths of ukes (13.5 inches for a soprano, 15 for a concert, 17 for a tenor), 23 inches is plenty of string! Oasis fluorocarbon strings also come in double lengths, and I believe they're cheaper than Worths.

Thanks for the help, I'll also check the Oasis. Would anyone recommend Worth over the Aquilas?

I play Worth Browns on my RISA electic ukes, and I put them on two of my Nationals, too. They offer good clear, crisp, tones. They arfe strong and durable. I play my RISAs daily, and I only have to change strings once or twice a year. I play them until they go out of tune. I buy them in bulk orders from Elderly, these days. They getting bloody expensive! But, they're Worth it (heh heh hah hah hee hee)

String brands are subjective to each player. Sound, feel, intonation, etc., all affect how they perform on a particular instrument. I have not had much luck with Worth's since and they feel very thin and slippery, but many others love them. I like Aquila's and D'Adario nylons on the smaller ukes, and GHS and Martin fluorocarbons on bari's. Just need to try them and see / hear what you like and don't like.
