I've used the original formula Aquila strings for a number of years on my vintage Martin Style O and they sound great. I need to get some new strings and when I shop there's a number of Aquila options available now. Anyone have any recommendation regarding their their different string formulas, i.e. new nyglut, red series, etc.? It's getting a little confusing. Thanks! |

"It's getting a little confusing."
Yup
"I've used the original formula Aquila strings . . . and they sound great."
I don't know what you mean by "original formula." Me, when I first started playing ukes, I messed around with lots of different strings. Eventually, based on numerous recommendations, I tried the Nylguts by Aquila and that's that. I love their big beefy feel and, like you, I dig their sound. I have no desire to try anything else (well I do like the wound Guadalupe strings on resos, but no, not on a Martin). So, I'm not confused. Rather, I'm quite content.
