New Listing WTT vintage barrel tuners for Martin wood pegs
I acquired this set of barrel tuners for the purpose of upgrading a vintage Martin, but have decided to look for a set of original Martin wood pegs instead. Most will agree that the barrel tuners (I don't know the manufacturer) are superior tuners. I just want to be authentic, and so my obsessiveness can be your gain. If you have a set of wooden pegs like the ones pictured here (not the type with the slotted ends), and would like to trade, please drop me a note. I need 8 pegs in total, so there will be more horse-trading, if this works out. Thanks for looking! (you'll need to fix the spam-proofing in the email address)

New Listing Rare Martin 3K "Bowtie" Soprano 1920 w/hsc
Rare Martin "Bowtie" 3K Martin Soprano Ukulele, VGC, 1920, rosewood fingerboard, w/new hsc, two finish stress cracks behind the bridge but nothing open and no previous repairs evident. Tuners replaced at some point with a vintage set that work well. Photo of this model can be found in Shaw and King's Martin Uke book page 29,143, and 144. The text is on page 29. It's a lovely uke and a joy to play and listen to. This uke was sold to me as refinished. My local Martin gurus weren't convinced. If refinished, the "crazing" observed dated the finish as being 60 years or older and a professional job. Free USPS Priority Shipping in continental U.S. Others calculated. Returns okay - buyer paying return priority shipping. Feel free to email or call with any questions/additional photos. I have plenty from about every angle. Thanks for looking. The Hawaii based vintage shop Ukulele Friend did such a nice job describing a similar 1920 3K, I'm including a link to the site and page and a quote from the page. http://ukulelefriend.com/ukes/1920-martin-3k-ukulele-extremely-rare/ "The overall weight of the instrument is also significantly lighter than the post 1925 models that have passed through and I suspect that this is due in part to the overall thickness of the wood on these early pieces. This could be a contributing factor to the incredible projection, clarity, and sustain these early pieces have that indefinitely separate them from the later production models. Absolutely amazing!"

New Listing Ohana SK-21
I purchased this a while back to take its measurements to use in my own sopranino build. I've got the numbers, so it's time to pass this little guy on. This is a little dynamo of a uke: what it lacks in size it makes up for in pluck -- ha, pun! It's solid mahogany save the rosewood fretboard and bridge, and it's the M model, which means it's styled after a Martin 2M (ebony nut and saddle, white binding, W/B purfling). It's well set-up, plays clean and fast up the neck, and is somehow even more fun to play than a soprano (if that's possible). Here's a sample: https://soundcloud.com/user92796094/...1-sound-sample It's strung with Worth BMs, which can be tuned to C all the way to E without being either too slack or too tight. Here's a sample of those three tunings (sans capo): https://soundcloud.com/user92796094/...1-in-c-d-and-e This uke comes with a specially fitted Ohana gig bag, which means you won't be able to sneak a soprano in there. It also comes with an Oasis humidifier. $125 gets the SK-21, it's bag, and the humidifier shipped to your door, CONUS. Any questions, give me a shout.

SOLDNew Listing Kiwaya KS-1
This is Kiwaya's basic model, but its build and its tone belies its name. It's clean and light and well balanced, its note separation is excellent, and it has bark if you want it. Really, it's extraordinary that it's a laminate. Its intonation is excellent; its action is low; it plays fast up a shallow D-shaped neck; in short, it is a pleasure to play. Here's a sample: https://soundcloud.com/user92796094/...1-sound-sample It is strung with Martin M600s, and it will come with a better than usual gig bag (good padding throughout, plush interior, strong seams and zippers). I really thought this was going to be my go-to summer-on-the-water soprano, but when it comes down to it, I just can't give up my beat old Bruko. Any questions, give me a shout.

New Listing Martin Tiple T-18 with Spruce Top VG Vintage Condition w/Hard Case
Martin Tiple. Very good vintage condition. Jake Wildwood at Antebellum Instruments says it is a T-18 built in the mid 20's. No model number stamped inside. New Listing Vintage 1950's Gretsch Style 2 Mahogany with Hardshell Case
This 1950's solid mahogany soprano Ukulele is in excellent condition and includes a deluxe hardshell case. The mahogany finish/patina is stunningly beautiful as you can see in the photos. There are no cracks or splits of any kind. The original tuners are beautiful and work like they did when they were new. Frets are in great shape. It has a lovely white inlay band around the top and the back w/ a nice black binding top and back as well. This pristine clean ukulele is rock solid, and it looks like it has been very well cared for during its entire lifetime. It doesn't seem to have been played much at all. I found this ukulele to be a great little player. It has very nice, easy low action, along with an exceptionally sweet, vintage, woody tone that only comes from aged mahogany. If you close your eyes you'd really think you were playing a Martin soprano from the same era. It can be quite loud too, especially with the high end Worth Fluorocarbon strings. Everything is original on this ukulele. This little Gretsch soprano would be a very nice addition to any vintage ukulele collection. You won't find another Gretsch Style 2 soprano ukulele in as fine shape as this one for a long time. Shipping only to the contiguous 48 States.

New Listing NEW POHAKU CURLY HONDURAN MAHOGANY BARITONE
(Oops, forgot to add the photos) Curly Honduran Mahogany is a hard to find wood which makes a beautiful instrument and this baritone is not only beautiful but great sounding as Mahogany also lends itself to strong mid and bass tones. The nice deep and rounded back all mahogany body is mated with a stiff quarter sawn Honduran neck and super smooth and dark Ebony fingerboard. Light Art Nouveau touches adorn the instrument with inlaid curvy flowing stripes that curl and wind their way down the peg head and fingerboard. At the top the strings are tuned with a set of the 4:1 internally geared peg head planetary tuners and at the bottom the strings terminate into a 'pinless' bridge which is made of maple and an elm burl. The baritone instruments I make usually are big sounding and this one is spot on. Without being 'muddy' all of the strings ring loud and strong and have guitar-like sustain. The smooth glossy lacquer finish is buffed to a mirror shine. I build with a 19" Baritone scale length and overall the ukulele is appprox 28" long and weighs about 24 ozs. It comes with a zippered coffin shape semi-hard case. US Shipping is $40. Price $1750. (last photo is my aero uke) Go to http://pohakuukulele.com/ for more information.

New Listing 5 string Tenor, Solid Flame Koa, Custom Built/pickup
We just purchase an unusual ukulele. It is a custom made 5 string (hi lo G) with sealed Grover tuners, 100% 4A flame Koa, with a high gloss finish and a pickup installed. The brand name is Kekahuna and the builder is George Bence. The problem is we have never heard of either. What we can say is this is a high quality ukulele, very well built, has great tone and sustain. We sell based on the purchase price so we are going to put this ukulele up for sale at $795 free shipping to lower 48; it certainly has a value much higher. It came in an old case that looks like fake leather over heavy cardboard and will be shipped that way unless the buyer purchases a hard case. Florida residence pay 7% tax.

Ko'Olau CE3 Ukulele ~ RARE! ~
Here is a Ko'Olau solid body electric tenor CE-3 ukulele. The body and neck are made out of mahogany and the top is solid curly koa. The body was been routed out and is semi-hollow which allows for great acoustic tone when playing unplugged or very warm rich tone when plugged in. This instrument is also ideal for a quiet practice ukulele. The CE-3 features 3 knobs on the soundboard that control volume, treble and bass. The fretboard, bridge and headstock faceplate are ebony and the logo is inlaid in M.O.P. Custom made by Ko'Olau, this is a truly superb instrument and a rare one to find for sale, perhaps those who own one do not want to ever play another tenor. It was purchased new from Ko'Olau in 2007. Ko'Olau retired the CE-3 in 2008 because of a shortage of the mango wood used to make the CE-3's. That wood is no longer available and now they only produce the CE-1 or the CE-2. Those who play the CE-3s find them to have a warm, bell like clarity, and although they handle and play exactly like the CE-2, the tone is far superior and with greater range, due to the superior quality of the pick-up, pre-amp, the quality of the mango wood and the fact that the knobs have control over the volume, bass and treble as opposed to the CE-2 which has only volume and tone. Comes with a hard case. $2750.00 with free shipping to the Con US. Paypal is preferred method of payment.

FS 20's - 30's Gretsch Clarophone Baritone Banjo Uke
OK, this is a tenor banjo but it can have many applications. With a 19.875 scale length it could be strung up as a Baritone uke or (currently) reentrant for clawhammer and also as Irish tenor. All original. One screw was missing on the friction pegs and I have replaced all using 3 fiber washers. I will inclue the 3 original screws also. If you shorten the 4th it can return to original. Head is original skin with a vintage skin patch to secure what would eventually become a tear. New bridge. $175 includes shipping to the lower 48. Note the US Band Instrument CO. They must have had Gretch make this for them...rare???

Martin 1-C Concert Uke, late 1930s
Uke is in excellent overall condition, structurally stable, with only minor wear (a few tiny scuffs, fingernail marks) and one, 1" repaired back crack. Bar frets, ebony endpin, Aguila nylgut (high G) strings, newer hardshell case. Tuners work, but are a bit stiff. The sound is absolutely heavenly-- sweet, punchy, and full-bodied. This is an extraordinary player's instrument. I've played a large number of other Martin concerts from this and later eras, and no other Martin concert comes close in my humble (and completely biased!) opinion. I would love to see this uke in the hands of a player who would enjoy and appreciate it as much as I have these past many years. Price: $1500. I'm much more interested in trading than cashing out. Will do trade instrument/s + cash, but would prefer a straight trade. Would consider a concert resonator uke (National, Morton), or a very small classical guitar/guitarlele (50mm nut and 550mm or under scale length, like the Cordoba Mini). I'm in the San Francisco Bay Area and favor an in-person trade/transaction. I'd (reluctantly!) ship, but to contiguous US only, with buyer paying shipping/insurance. To see/hear the uke on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pl9msQLlasM https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U0uxozDR4ug Happy playing!

FS: Brian Griffin concert ukulele
I purchased my concert-size ukulele from its luthier, Brian Griffin, in November 2014. Specifications and features: Australian Blackwood sides and back; Englemann Spruce top – a bit finner grain than Sitka and warmer in tone; Alaska Cedar neck; French Polish finish; Radiused fretboard; Fretboard and bridge are from a piece of wildly figured satinwood; Rosette is made of many individual pieces of spalted maple; Head plate is also spalted maple; PEGHED tuners (4:1 gear ratio); Saddle and nut are from buffalo bone; Strings are Southcost low smooth wound G; Rosewood strap button at the tail end (but none on the heel of the neck). Lovely tone and resonance. Brief audio sample at https://app.box.com/s/8d3mgiby4tuma71hemxycozhnq4lbgk0 I have kept it in a case with a humidifier. This sale does not include a case. But I can double-box the ukulele and pack it carefully. There are some small blemishes (indentation marks) below two of the PEGHED tuners on the backside of the headstock that must have been made when Brian installed the tuners. The top shows a bit of evidence of being played if closely examined. Price is $550 for this Brian Griffin concert, including ground shipping and insurance to lower 48 states. (If you want to use regular Paypal, that is fine, but you are responsible for associated fees).

SOLD F/S Mya-Moe #763 Curly Myrtle Tenor Cascade Series

*********************************************************************************

OK folks. Up for sale is a real prize. A Mya-Moe Tenor #763

As I search for all different kinds of sounds from my Ukes, I am trying out many different brands and woods. I seem to be headed in the direction of KoAloha which has a completely different sound to this. Sometimes we bond, sometimes we don't. This one needs someone to love.

The total description of this Uke can be read in the link below, so no need to repeat.

When I questioned Gordon about the wood quality, he said this about this Uke:

"Master Grade is a very subjective determination which we make. We didn’t grade 763 as Master Grade, but it is very close."

This Uke is in wonderful condition, with the only thing being a very slight mark below the bridge when some strings snapped. Otherwise, you are getting a real beauty.

Price is SOLD (using PayPal friends and family) or SOLD (PayPal) + shipping.

Most of us already have many nice cases and you can save on the cost of the Uke by not getting it. It is a typical hard shell case. Take $40 off if you don't want it.

A recent video put out by Mya-Moe said they will be cutting production from approx 350 to approx 220 Ukes. This is your chance to get one now instead of waiting in the queue for a very long time, and at a lower price than you would be paying. (A build on the MM website shows $1650 + shipping amount + the wait time.)

This is information from the Mya-Moe website about this particular Uke.

https://www.myamoeukuleles.com/uketracker.php?trackingNumber=763#

This is Aaron's video on this particular Uke.

SOLD Kanile'a K-1 GL6 Guitalele
Fantastic solid Koa guitalele, purchased new from dealer last year, and used only a handful of times. Rich, mellow tone and excellent intonation distinguish this instrument. Well suited for either fingerpicking or strumming. Condition is as new, with no scratches, cracks, or flaws. A nice hardshell case is included. The instrument is tuned to A-D-G-C-E-A, the equivalent of a guitar with a capo at the 5th fret. It could also be thought of as a standard Ukulele tuning with two additional bass strings. I've found it to be great fun to use with classical guitar arrangements, but haven't used I nearly as much as I had anticipated, hence the sale. Will include Paypal fees and shipping to the mainland US only at my asking price.

2013 Pepe Romero Koa Tenor Custom
Hello, I'm selling my custom Pepe Romero Koa Tenor that I purchased from HMS two years ago. If you know anything about Pepe or his ukuleles, then you probably already know how spectacular these instruments are. The tone is incredible. It's the lightest ukulele I've ever played and it's LOUD! I liked this ukulele so much that I decided to order a new custom from Pepe. Then I ordered another one a year later. Yes, I'm that nuts - or maybe I should just say that's how impressed I am with Pepe and his instruments. The instrument is pretty much as new. It has a few very very slight scuffs from playing, but you'd really have to search to find them. It comes with a nice Crossrock case and is currently strung with LaBella strings. Pepe won't be building more ukuleles for at least six months as he's got a three year waitlist on his guitars. His current list price is $2800. Please contact me with any questions.

SOLD Pono AT5 Acacia Pro Classic Tenor - Beautiful

During my attempts to purchase the elusive and mythical "The One", I have bought a number of Ukes in the last few months. I am narrowing it down as I get closer.

I have three different Pono Tenors in three different listings and they are just about perfect. The only issue is at the bottom of the bridge where some strings snapped as I was putting them on and they left marks in the finish. This is not an issue, but there is a redish mark in the wood on the side. It is not a defect, just the way the wood came out. I think it gives it character.

This is a Pono AT5 PC (Acacia Wood). (It is the 5 series. More bling on the front.)

They will come with the Koolau Gold strings that were originally on them when I got it which have been taken off, although the pictures may not show these strings. (One of the sets is Low G.) You would be better off leaving the strings off and I'll include them separately in the box, so I'll send it unstrung unless you want it strung. This way you can put whatever strings you want on them. The Koolau strings are as thick as logs.

Thanks for reading.

No, you are not seeing things. There are only three strings on this as I took the pictures.

They will come with the what I think are Oasis Bright High G strings. I say this because I changed a number of strings on different Ukes and didn't write it down. I won't make that mistake again. I can include some used Koolau Gold Low G strings as well at no extra charge.

Beltona concert resonator
Beltona concert resonator ukulele, excellent condition with only minor signs of playing wear. There is a tiny chip at the base of the headstock between the two bass side strings (see pic) that is purely cosmetic. The body is made of fiberglass so it is much more lightweight than other resonator ukuleles. Much nicer sound and better quality than the low end reso ukes that sell for $400 or so. It is more on par with a National, but without the $1500-2000 price tag. Includes hard foam case - the handle is missing but the straps work.

10-string tiple (Harmony?)
This is a 10-string tiple I restored a while back. I just got another tiple, and so I'm letting this one go. It doesn't have a label or any branding I can see, but I think it is a Harmony. The top is solid spruce. The back and sides are also solid wood, I think maybe birch with a nice butternut stain. I repaired two small top cracks near the edge of the lower bouts. The bridge is a replacement. I used a metal rod for the saddle but someone else might want to replace that with a compensated bone saddle for improved intonation. The nut is wood. The pearloid pickguards are new additions. Tuners work very well. The neck has a bit of twist to it, but it is still very playable. It is tenor scale. All in all, a fine way to add a tiple to your collection without braking the bank. Price reduced and going on ebay.
